How to Create an Informational Blog Post with ChatGPT

In this article, I've summarised my most commonly used prompts for writing informational blog posts. This is all my personal research, so feel free to use them, too, and make the most of ChatGPT!

ChatGPT Prompts for Informational Blog Post?

When it comes to writing, the first thing you need is research. So, for research, here’s what you should do:

1. Head to Google, type in your primary keyword, and check the first five ranked articles. Read through their content, note their headings, and think about how you can present similar ideas in a different and unique style.

2. After that, move on to the second step, which is creating an outline or structure for your content. Here’s what you need to do:

???- First, write down the headings your top three competitors are using. (Just a note: don’t repeat the same heading three times—use your brain! Write each heading only once, and make sure the intent behind each is different to avoid duplication.)??

3. Now, head over to ChatGPT and give it this prompt:

???- “Hey ChatGPT, please act like an ‘Expert Content Writer’ and follow my instructions.”

Keep in mind that the data you generate should be in basic, beginner-level English. Remember my audience (adjust it according to them). Mostly, it's for informational blogs, so a 5th-grade standard works. Use simple English words. Everything should be in detail. I need only an active voice with no complex sentences

?????> “My primary keyword is ‘[Insert Keyword].’ I need to create a detailed article on this keyword and cover it in full. Here are the headings my competitors are targeting. Kindly use these and suggest more possible headings I can cover under my primary keyword. Provide me with a detailed outline.”

ChatGPT will give you a detailed outline. But here’s the trick—you’ve got to use your own brain! Check if the content it generates aligns with the keyword intent and fulfills the user’s needs.

4. Now, go to your document, input the headings one by one, and boom—you’ve got a solid outline!

Writing the Opening Paragraph (Hook)

So, how do you write the perfect opening paragraph? Here are some ways to start:

- Start with a fact or figure.

- Begin with a confusion-based question.

- Kick off with a common statement related to your keyword.

Pro Tip: Give ChatGPT this prompt to generate multiple options for you:

> “I need an opening paragraph for the keyword ‘[Insert Keyword]’ in four different versions:??

> - One starting with facts??

> - One with a confusion-based question??

> - One addressing my users' pain points??

> - And one random start.??

> Make sure to target my primary keyword in each version.”

ChatGPT will provide you with different options. Just pick the one that suits you best. But remember, if the keyword isn’t fully targeted, don’t hesitate to ask ChatGPT to fix it!

Writing the Content Body

Let’s say you’re writing a blog post on ‘What is the Internet?’ Naturally, your first heading would be explaining what the internet is or providing a definition. Here’s what you can ask ChatGPT to do:

> “I need a definition paragraph for the keyword ‘What is the Internet’ or ‘Definition of the Internet.’ Keep the paragraph between 4 to 5 sentences. Break long sentences into shorter ones and use active voice.”

You can ask ChatGPT to generate several versions and choose the one you like.

Humanizing the Content

Now, when you get to a section like ‘Importance of the Internet’, it’s time to give your content a human touch. Prompt ChatGPT like this:

> “For the heading ‘Importance of the Internet,’ please write two lines and then summarize the importance in short bullet points.”

This will give your content a cleaner layout with bullet points.

Explaining Concepts in Simple Terms

If your next heading is ‘How the Internet Works,’ here’s a pro tip: Use a mixture of paragraphs and bullet points. You can ask ChatGPT for help like this:

> “For the heading ‘How the Internet Works,’ first explain the basic concept in paragraph form, then go into more detail with bullet points. Make the content easy for my users to understand.”

Listing Pros and Cons

For a heading like ‘Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet,’ ask ChatGPT to format the content in bullets. For example:

> “For the heading ‘Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet,’ start with a brief introduction, then list all the advantages in bullet points, followed by the disadvantages.”

Again, you can choose whether you want it all in paragraphs or bullets.

Writing the Conclusion

For the conclusion, you’re essentially summarizing your article. Here's a SEO-friendly tip: Write something like this:

> “So guys, it’s time to wrap up. In this article, we’ve covered [Insert Keyword] in detail.”

Then, give ChatGPT this prompt:

> “I need a conclusion paragraph that starts with the above sentence, includes a personal recommendation, and ends with a call to action. Give me three versions.”

Adding a personal recommendation signals to readers (and search engines) that you’ve researched the content thoroughly and are sharing your own insights.

Adding FAQs

At the end, always include a FAQs section. Give ChatGPT this prompt:

> “Now think about what questions might arise in my readers’ minds after reading this article. Provide me with 10 frequently asked questions along with short, beginner-friendly answers (3 sentences each).”

If you’re not happy with the results, you can ask ChatGPT to regenerate or tweak the questions.

• Competitor research is essential.
• Verify any facts or statistics that ChatGPT generates.
• Read through ChatGPT’s content before using it. If something feels off, prompt it again to make the necessary changes.
