Here's a quick story:
"Should I learn American English or British English?"
I asked my teacher once many years ago.
"American."
"Why?"
"They have the atomic bomb."
I thought he was joking, for a second.
But he was not.
Is that a good answer?
It's certainly extremely practical.
When in doubt, doing what's practical and useful could be the best advice.
I was surprised that for once the answer was not "what do you like?".
But enough about me.
This came to mind when I was helping someone with this question:
"I want to do what you do, but I have no idea how. Explain it to me"
A genuine question from a friend who wants to work remotely and live in amazing places like me ??.
Well, "thank you, thank you, I'm flattered, so I'll tell you the truth. But I learned that the answer is probably not what you'd like to hear. Still want me to go on?"
OKay, then enough about me.
This is how you do it like me,
Option 1: wait for the right job offer to come along.
Option 2: Buy a beautiful harmonica and take harmonica lessons.
Maybe you will awaken within you some spectacular harmonica skills and the world will reward you grandly.
Option 3: learn about earning skills.
BUT...
Option 1 you tried already and it didn't work.
Option 2 was a joke. Maybe you tried that already too.

Option 3 it is.
In other words: If you want to be a hunter, learn hunting skills.
Want to be a farmer? Farming skills.
Want to work for yourself? Business skills.
Such as: marketing, sales, and all the tech and design skills related to that.
I know some people don't like this option, and that's okay.
But the problem is that most people don't know this is even an option.
I didn't.
I don't know what kind of Teletubbies world I was living in, but it took me over 10 years of professional life to come across this idea for the first time.
As you can see, I write this for myself, with the hope you find it useful.
If you want to grow your business, stop mucking about and learn business skills.
If you know that already, share and tell others. It's not fun to be stuck.
