How to create a compelling Employee Value Proposition

How to create a compelling Employee Value Proposition

Does your organisation have a gripping Employee Value Proposition (EVP)? If not, it’s worth considering since it’s crucial for employee engagement and fundamental to building and sustaining business results.

There are many ways to create an EVP. In general, it’s built by considering the needs and wants of current and potential employees and then communicating the unique benefits and opportunities that the company can offer to them.

Here are some generic steps that I find useful:

  • Understand the needs and wants of your employees: Conduct surveys, focus groups, or interviews to gather feedback on what your employees value most in their jobs.
  • Understand your company's culture and values: Determine what makes your company unique and how it aligns with your employees’ values.
  • Communicate the value proposition: Clearly communicate the benefits, opportunities, and rewards that the company can offer to employees. This could include things like career development, work-life balance, compensation, and benefits.
  • Make it visible: Promote your EVP internally and externally to attract and retain top talent.
  • Continuously review and improve: Regularly review and gather feedback on your EVP and adjust as needed to ensure it aligns with your employees’ needs and company values.

I can recommend that you use an employee engagement solution like Empact to create, promote and improve your EVP. It’s a great platform for communication, feedback, rewards and recognition, employee involvement, tracking and giving valuable insights into the effectiveness of the EVP.
