How To Create "A Balanced"? Diet

How To Create "A Balanced" Diet

Nutritional education is weak and lacking in the military.

When we think about this logically, it makes as much sense as Bojo making a speech!

Your body's ability to perform efficiently and handle life's challenges is influenced by the fuel you feed it.

So if you are someone who is struggling with performance, such as low energy or weight gain. Having a clean up of the foods you put in your body is paramount!

Your Metabolism

Many people think that metabolism is just energy burned, but there is so much more to it than that.

Your metabolism and the intertwined network of hormones are sensitive to the stress but on your body.

Not just perceived stress like having a shitty day at work, but sleep stress, digestive stress and the amount of energy you give your body over a long period of time.

Back in the old days, we would go through periods of fasting and feasting due to the availability of? food that changes through the seasons.

The problem is that today we have food everywhere! We don't even have to get up and go hunt for it!

This coupled with many peoples sedentary lifestyle is a metabolic disaster waiting to happen! Many people blame their hormones for their weight, in most cases this is just an excuse.

Lets take type II diabetes, this disease is brought about by EATING TOO MUCH over a prolonged period of time. Your body can't cope with the amount of energy you input, so it becomes insulin resistant, to keep you alive.

What is a "Balanced" Diet?

Contrary to what the keto ninjas, paleo warriors and vegan knights will have you believe, your diet should consist of all 3 macronutrients. Carbs, fats and proteins are all essential for life. Maintaining a diet that covers all three macros, will ensure your micronutrients are covered.

Missing out on macronutrients is a sure way of being micronutrient deficient. This can impact the process that happens deep within the body.

Government guidelines of macronutrient distribution are as follows (roughly):

Carbohydrates: 50-55% of your diet, split between starchy carbs like rice and fruits and vegetables.?

Fats: 30-35% of your diet, with intake being largely from mono and polyunsaturated fats, like avocado and a small amount of saturated fats like cheese.

Protein: 10-15% of your diet, coming from lean meat sources of plant sources like beans and pulses.

There are certain individuals that it would suit to have different ratios, however if you are just looking for health improvement, following this split will do you just fine.

Food for Thought.

Pun intended, I am not even sorry!

Food is energy! Pure and simple, the problem is that the world today sees food as a treat. Most things that taste like heaven are probably the worst for you, you will want to eat more, because of the hedonistic feedback from your brain.

To that end, following the 80/20 rule will keep you on track.

80% of your food is for health and performance.

20% for pleasure.

Calories Matter! You can have the "Healthiest" "Cleanest" diet in the world. But if you are shoveling it in like you have just seen the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse, you will gain weight and become unwell.

Controlling your intake and having a healthy output, yes that means exercise, will help you stave off illness and keep the weight off.

Avoid FAD Diets! Find your way. Many people will advocate that a certain diet style is better for you, when everything in life has pros and cons. You need to find something you enjoy and can stick to, quick fat loss diets will only leave you in a worse position than before.

If you found this useful, please like and share!

If you are struggling with your health mission and need to keep up the back side, reach out!

Send me a message and let's see if we could be a good fit to work together.
