How to Create AI Line Drawings for Adult Coloring Books with AI
As many of you know, I’m working on creating a course on how to create coloring book images using AI. The following is the outline I intend to use. Questions? Write to me.
1.????? Overview of the growing popularity of adult coloring books. A few topics we will cover are what are the most popular types of coloring books. Benefits of using AI to generate coloring book designs. Also talk about prompt engineering, training the AI, image retouching and when AI is not enough. In this course we will make use of Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, Flux and Leonardo and Magai, to name a few.
?
2.????? To begin, you need to set up an account with Canva and choose a free trial for the pro plan. After that, you will learn how to create an 8.5x11 inch coloring book. Among other things, you will learn how to set up pages with the correct bleed and margins.
?
3.????? After that, you will learn the basics of prompt engineering so you can get the results you want. Canva has several AI programs. We will walk through how to use them. Since we are working with coloring books, our goal is to create line drawings that are only that, without black areas or gray fills.
?
4.????? After the intro to Canva, we will do an in-depth exploration of prompt engineering and look at such topics as using negative prompts to exclude unwanted elements.
?
5.????? After prompt engineering, we will look at different ways to train the AI to get the results you seek. After that, we will look at several AI programs, one at a time and show you how to use them.
?
6.????? Another way of getting the results you want is to import photos into an AI program and use the photo as a reference to create line art. And now, here is a list of the AI programs we will cover in this course

Here, you will learn traditional ways of cleaning up elements (e.g. removing background, fixing defects), enhancing outlines and simplifying designs for coloring.
?
16. Another way of having more control is to import images into Adobe Animate and make use of the manual drawing tools to create precise drawings. This is a great option for creating mandalas.
?
17. When you want ultimate control. you will need to use Blender and image libraries to create detailed, custom line art.
?
18. Once you’re satisfied with your coloring book, you need to publish it. Your options are Amazon, Draft2Digital, IngramSpark, Author's Republic, and PublishDrive. In this module, you will learn how to publish your book as a Kindle paperback and ebook.
