How to Create an Aesthetic Instagram Feed
Instagram is all about amazing photo vibes, so it’s important to create an aesthetic feed of your great shots. But how do you do it? It’s difficult to predict what your profile grid will look like without actually posting the photos. Yet, you don’t want to post the photos before you’ve had a chance to see what the grid will look like. It’s a bit of a catch 22, we know.
Fear not, there are some great applications out there that can help you out. Here’s a run-down of three great (and free!) apps that can help you curate an aesthetic Instagram feed to satisfy yourself, as well as existing, and potential followers.
1. PREVIEW
The great thing about this app is that you don’t need to login to your Instagram account to use it. You can simply create a login and start to arrange your photos in a grid to see what they’ll look like. Simply add photos to the app and tap and drag them to rearrange. However, if you’d like to login using your Instagram username and password, Preview will show your existing grid, which you can add to. It also has the ability for you to plan, schedule and repost photos with ease. As an added bonus, it has an editing feature so you can do pretty much everything within the app. Like most apps these days, the free version has limitations, and if you choose to upgrade you can login to multiple Instagram accounts, as well as add extra features such as text and frames to images when you edit them.
If you’re simply looking for a free app to create that beautifully aesthetic grid, the simplicity of Preview is perfect.
2. UNUM
This app was designed for iOS devices, so you may struggle slightly with other operating systems. Having said that, the app is still quite advanced and works well for planning and scheduling, and will send you reminders for when you need to post your photo through Instagram (since you can’t actually post through the app). Unum can do everything that Preview can, however as an added bonus it has a feature that allows you to temporarily delete photos from your feed to see what it would look like without them. Which is great because we often like to see different options, however re-uploading images can be a hassle. With Unum, you can also save your captions for when it comes time to post, meaning posting can be more seamless and less time consuming.
3. PLANOLY
Although it doesn’t have any photo editing features, Planoly is great for planning and designing beautiful Instagram feeds for business accounts. Yes, you read correctly. If we’re comparing this to the likes of Facebook Business Manager, it’s not quite on the same level, but the foundation is there. Planoly is designed for business Instagram accounts, where you can design an Instagram grid that other people can also preview (this is handy if you’re doing social media for someone, and need their approval before posting). However adding extra accounts for permission to edit will cost extra. You can also view basic analytics from the past week, month or year for the connected Instagram account. With a handy desktop version, Planoly also allows you access to all the tools your desktop offers, including responding to comments. In addition to this, the monthly calendar dashboard shows you not only scheduled content, but the time you’ve previously posted and the amount of likes each post attracted. This means you can see when your most popular days and times are and allows you to optimise your scheduling in accordance with these days and times. This app is particularly handy if you’re managing multiple Instagram accounts, because it can get pretty tricky otherwise.
With great apps like these out there to help us plan and manage our content, we are one step closer to creating aesthetically pleasing Instagram feeds with ease. Not only that, but we can track and check which content does the best and optimise our strategy to better attract our target audience. Not sure which app to use? Have a go at them all, and pick an app that best suits your needs.
