How to Craft High-Value Content Your Ideal Clients Will Love

When I first started blogging in 2011, I would write a post every day just to see if anybody was listening. Sometimes it sounded as if I was writing a letter to my best friend and other times it was like writing a college paper with theories and facts. The big deal back then was- keep posting and they will come. Who came up with that? Not sure, but what I DO know is that as you become more focused and aligned, your content follows suit. Creating content your clients find valuable and relevant is key to growing your coaching practice through organic reach and credibility. But with so much noise out there, how do you know what YOUR clients want? Getting back to the basics will be your best bet. The coaching industry is evolving and entrepreneurs who embrace flexibility and adaptability will survive what's coming and what's happening now. Here are some strategies we use in Breakout Coach Academy:

Know Your Avatar Inside & Out This one is definitely obvious, but I need to reiterate- the better you understand your Ideal Client's core challenges, goals and pain, the better you can craft solutions through your content. Do an audit - who are they really and what are their true needs?

I have a framework for this but here are two MAJOR factors to consider:

Motivations & Drivers:

  • What internally motivates them to take action vs avoid/delay? Passion? Fear?

Challenges & Roadblocks:

  • Recurring internal/external obstacles holding them back
  • Root causes vs symptoms of those challenges

You can nail these two by having conversations at least every 3-6 months with ideal clients.

Ask Good Questions Reach out and poll your list with open-ended questions about topics most helpful to them. Remember, content is a two-way street. I have clients do this after every event and periodically because you need to know what will sell NOW. Listen deeply to the answers.

Solve Real Problems Don't just share observations - it's good to have them, but focus on high-value "how-to" guides, short lessons, templates and trainings that give step-by-step ways to overcome specific obstacles. Practicality wins every time. What quick win can you give someone today?

Leverage Case Studies & Client Stories Real-world examples of your coaching in action are extremely engaging and persuasive. You can always protect your client's privacy and still share your approach or methodology. When clients do not have any stories or case studies, we do a paid beta or pilot cohort to get them.

Repurpose in Multiple Formats Whether podcasts, videos, workbooks or social updates - taking the same insightful nugget and expressing it through a variety of mediums maximizes your content's reach. If you are loving the organic playing field, this is a must! But, if wellness is a concern, find space to recharge when necessary so you are not getting burnt out or overwhelmed. You can always outsource this to free up your time for other things.

Collaborate with Aligned Content Creators This is something everyone should have on their "to do" list for 2024! You can do this in a few different ways:

  • Search events/conferences they may attend and reach out in advance to setup an in-person meeting.
  • See if you share any professional or personal connections on LinkedIn that could introduce you.
  • Comment positively and move conversations toward messaging if you engage on their social content over time.
  • Offer insider tips, resources or connections with no strings attached to build familiarity/trust first.

The personal touch through researching interests and following engagement patterns shows you value their work before asking for something in return.

By truly understanding your clients and crafting solutions to their core needs across different formats, you create valuable magnetic content that attracts more ideal clients effortlessly. Try these strategies and let me know your results!
