How to Craft Copy That's True to You and Resonates with Customers

Let's talk about the one copy task so Herculean it makes opening a pickle jar with greased-up hands look like child's play.
?? Balancing your brand's voice with your customer's voice.
AKA: Managing to sound like YOU but also reflect what your customers think using voice of customer (VOC) data.
It's a tightrope walk you're going to have to master if you want to write copy that screams, "take my money"
(Psssst. Not sure what VOC is or how to find it? ?This email will get you all caught up?)
Here's what I suggest:
1. Swipe with style, not bulk
Use VOC research to pinpoint those killer analogies, punchy phrases, or magic words that'll make your audience swoon.
That way, your copy stays true to you (or your client) while still being oh-so-relatable and engaging.
2. Testimonials are your BFFs
Say your website's voice embodies the elegance, grace, and timeless, unparalleled appeal of a Stradivarius violin. You can still flaunt your customers' raw, unedited voices in testimonials.
It's like giving your readers a sneak peak into your exclusive VIP club.
3. Clarity and simplicity? Yes please!
Whatever "voice" you write in, snappy words and sentences are a must.
One of my favourite ChatGPT prompts flying about the internet at the moment is:
"Explain {Complex theorem, e.g. "relativity"} to me as if I was 10 years old"
领英推荐
Which can easily be tweaked to simplify your copy.
"Explain this to me as if I was 10 years old: {paste overly complicated sentence or paragraph}"
It's a game-changer for decoding jargon and tangled thoughts.
So, what's it gonna be, {{ subscriber.first_name }}?
Which of these tips will you use to whip up drool-worthy copy that speaks to both your brand and your customers?
Hit reply with 1, 2 or 3.
