How to Craft Business Stories that Sell and Impact: A Quick Guide to Business Storytelling

How to Craft Business Stories that Sell and Impact: A Quick Guide to Business Storytelling

Do you remember how our primary teachers would simplify class lessons into memorable and exciting stories?

Actually, I wonder what happens to that teaching approach when we grow up.

Through stories, we get to know the best people in our industry, the most popular car model, the most trending topic on social media, literally everything.

Most business founders and leaders know what they exactly want to communicate but a few of them can communicate it in a way that provides satisfying returns.

How do successful entrepreneurs and leaders tell their business stories?

To help us understand how effectively we can leverage storytelling in business, Dr.Sundararaman Chintamani , an Indian seasoned business storyteller and author shares some interesting secrets to telling business stories that open hearts and banks.

?? LET'S KNOW THIS FIRST!

What is the difference between business stories and other stories?

According to Dr.Sundararaman Chintamani, the main difference lies in the objective behind the story.

?? Wonder what a business story looks like?

Think of case studies, customer testimonials (success stories), challenges you resolved, and milestones you achieved.

Stories stimulate the release of feel-good hormones that bring pleasure, relieve pain, and brush off worries from our minds.

Why business storytelling?

Because with it we can:

?? Educate prospects and customers: Effective stories make people learn about what you do and what is in it for them

?? Build a strong brand: Stories foster relationships and shape how people perceive your brand.

?? What are the key elements a great business story must have?

  1. Authenticity: Share something real, not something you just made up
  2. Brevity: Be precise and straightforward. Dr Sunda recommends that a good story last around 2 to 3 minutes in business settings.
  3. Specific: Be specific in your stories so that people can clearly understand what happened, when exactly, where, and how.
  4. Relatable: Make sure people can relate to what you're talking about. How? Before sharing your story, just ask yourself if there is something of value for the same.
  5. Note-worth: Don't randomly tell stories, make sure there is some essential information that will make people listen and gain from you.

In his closing message, Dr.Sundararaman Chintamani recommends leaders and entrepreneurs to pay attention to what is happening in their surroundings as far as their businesses are concerned.

"You need to keep your eyes and ears open to know what is happening. If something interesting happens then it should be part of your story file".
