How Covid19 Has Impacted Us All, Even If We Think Otherwise

Whenever things didn’t go as planned, my parents or elders would say, “back in the days, we used to do this…” or “you had no idea what it was like…”. Oblivious to the situation, since I was not there at the time, I would laugh, and suggested time has changed now, just like most of us would do.
Has the time really changed? Have we, as humans, come of age and respond to situations differently?
Perhaps, or maybe not!
Just the thought of living in times when the nation was not free, or the times when there were wars, or emergency declared, I get chills.
Simply because I know, I would have taken extreme measures to face the challenges head on.
But then, I would be single and fearless and a bit immature, like I was a decade back.
When you have a family, you start thinking differently, and you take calculated risks – one which would definitely not have fatal impact on you or your family.
The current outlook is reminiscence of such moment, where I could envisage a blackout during war, only there is no war or blackout. However, there is a sense of emergency, similar to the curfews which doesn’t allow you to step out of your house.
Quite frankly, I have never been in such situation and can’t reckon how people in far east or up north get on with their lives, when they are imposed with curfews, or the city is on a lockdown.
Then again, it’s for my own good, isn’t it?!
So what, if I’m not able to go out and buy groceries, not able to meet anyone, or I can’t be in a place where there are more than 5 people, since police would impound my vehicle or fine me. (Really who passed such laws or allowed law enforcement to behave like goons? – I guess no one, but still occurring in some parts of the city.)
History always finds its way of presenting to us – don’t you think?
I mean, just look around.
Aren’t people blindly following false news, aren’t they creating panic by flocking the markets to bulk buy, aren’t they being selfish and not considerate towards others – like we are living on some weird planet.
We never learn! Or we do! But, not to an extent where we could be better than others.
Phew ... who am I to comment on others, when I’m so disorganized myself, these days.
Confined to my home, trying to catch my breath with so many chores, holding my infant kid in my arms, and attending a team meeting – just hoping my kid wouldn’t make a sound when I am speaking!
While, the devil in me is hoping, my kid would just pull the earphones as soon as someone is about to give some work to me :)
Irony in all this is, people who are not used to of doing house chores would certainly start appreciating what their partners or mothers do, and be more compassionate. (I just hope they do!)
So what have I, personally, learned from all this.
First and foremost, we will survive! No matter what, there would be a way out. Even if you feel like you are house arrested.
Things are not always so difficult, as they may seem at first. (Just bring your kids while attending calls. Haha!) Moreover, looking at their naughtiness will make you laugh, when you think about it later.
People will not change, but you could be better prepared, I’m sure everyone would have certain things they would like to manage better, than they did this time around. Like for me, I never thought not stocking up groceries would be so much challenging later on.
Lastly, no matter what your client says, even a secured ODC (offshore delivery center), can work from home and give people more flexibility. :)
