People's emotions are mainly affection to live to the fullest, and sometimes we can't refuse when they come.
However, we will only make the right decisions and actions if we are penetrative enough to realize the emotion. In the workplace, if your emotions affect your activities, everything will be out of control. Sometimes, it is too late to correct your mistakes.
Therefore, controlling your emotions is one of many factors for the manager who wants to stay and improve his skills in the workplace. And it would be best if you practiced often, no matter which position you are from executive employee to C-class Officer.
When I started my career, the lack of control over emotions was the most frequent comment I received from my "ex-boss."
They gave me too much to make me think it was one of my limitations, which I had to break out to get a new, higher level. Then, I made basic rules for myself to control my emotions. Till today, they have helped me a lot. I hope my below sharing will help you, too.
1. When you can't control your emotions, don't make any decisions or do anything.
As I said, we can't refuse emotions, and we must face them. Besides, when emotions control you, you will have 99.99% to make mistakes in every action.
Don't do anything except try to return to a normal state when you're angry because of bad news or happy because of good news. And focus on this. Your time-delay deserves to be exchanged for 99,99% of mistakes going to be made.
And the most exciting thing is that you began controlling your emotions then.
It's so easy. You can apply this, so don't keep reading if you can't do that simple job.
2.?Emotions always come surprisingly. If you want to control your emotions, destroy all the surprises.
Put another way, you must "predict" the situations that may happen. This requires many living and working experiences. And in a situation in which you don't know what should be done next, one thing you need to do, instead of "predicting," is "take on" or "accept" every situation, no matter how good or bad.
For example:
Your Boss asks you to come into the meeting room without noticing. Predict two situations: you’re fired, or you’re promoted.
Your colleague invites you for a coffee, which he/she has never done before. Predict that he/she will tell you that he/she will fall in love with you or borrow money.
A difficult-to-please customer, today when he/she meets you, he/she is easy-going. Predict that he/she will buy something from you or cancel the contract.
In conclusion, when you get some unusual clues, predict that one emotion will come up to you in the next few seconds. Prepare to face the problems. When you get prepared, everything is not surprising. And when you don't feel surprised anymore, you control your emotions better.

3. Balancing your emotions.
Everything in Life has two sides. Your emotions, such as happiness or sadness, will be created when one side wakes up. When you receive good news, remember it includes terrible news you've yet to hear. The skill of controlling your emotions is not destroying them. It is the balance of them and their surroundings.
When you are happy, think immediately about what makes you sad when your happiness ends. One positive thing always pairs with some negative things.
When you feel like your emotions are coming up (and you want to control them), immediately think about the other side of the situation.
For example:
When you get your salary higher, don’t be happy. Think about the new responsibility which you have to take care of.
When you are compliant with the boss, you immediately feel down or angry because of the affection of the adrenaline. Or should you think that he is spending his invaluable time teaching you a big lesson in order to improve your working efficiency? There are many situations in this story, but if you react following the 2nd way, at least you will control your emotions. (And like I said, you will avoid 99,99% mistakes).
Balancing your emotions, you will be back to normal naturally. And get a reward for yourself for having done one magical thing which just some people can do.
4. Happiness is making someone happy.
This saying is too familiar to you. From my point of view, it is the skill of controlling your emotions "at a high level."
Emotions are the result of people's relationships. You can't have feelings for something dull, such as a smartphone. You may have a question: How about the relationship between people and pets? It is also people's relationships. You love your puppy, who always fawns to welcome you at home because you treat him as a true friend. When you are really happy, make others comfortable with you. How about when you are really sad? Make others sad? Just kidding. Make others not miserable.
Simply put, try to place yourself in the shoes of the various factors contributing to that emotion.
For Example:
The customers cancel your contract, maybe because their financial situation is really bad? At that time, your disappointment becomes nothing but a drop in the bucket compared to how sad they are.
You get the promotion due to excellent results on the job. Somewhere out there, somebody didn’t do as well as you, and they were fired. Then, you get their position.
When you think about others too much, you won’t think of yourself anymore. Then, your emotions will fade out. Put another way, you completely control your emotions without forcing yourself to do something.
What will be if you let your emotions control your physical mind in the workplace?
No matter how beautiful the death of a swan is, it’s just a failure, big or small!
