How To Be Consistent On LinkedIn

The thought of doing something repeatedly for a certain period could seem easy, but when it comes to actualizing it, without great intentions and enough determination, one might fail.?

Our brains and all the systems within us are used to the familiar. Therefore, introducing something new could be heavy on the systems. The only way to get through and make our bodies get used to it is by consistently showing up for ourselves. And not only in certain areas of our lives but also in safe spaces and professional settings such as LinkedIn.

This article will focus on how you can get started on your own LinkedIn consistency journey.

Let’s first of all shed light on the word consistent.

What does it mean to be Consistent?

When one is consistent on something, they are intentionally repeating that activity at certain intervals, intending to form a positive habit out of it. It is advisable to start small, and then increase the amount of activity after the momentum has picked up.

What Is The Difference Between Consistency and Discipline?

With consistency, the aim is to develop a habit out of a chosen activity by repeatedly doing it over and over until it becomes natural. With discipline, you are committed to doing an activity without failure whether you wake up and feel like it or not. The two go hand in hand because to be fully disciplined, you have to show up consistently. And to be consistent, you have to be disciplined at it.

How To Be Consistent on LinkedIn

  1. Find a convenient time when you could be posting your content regularly and stick to it. (You could take advantage of the schedule feature on LinkedIn)
  2. Have a goal. Write down why you are posting and why you are showing up daily.
  3. Study what is working for you and what isn't then do more of what is working. For example, if posting at 8 AM yields better results, stick to posting at that time.
  4. Study top creators in your industry to gain insights into how they run their stuff, then come up with your ways. Don’t copy, just get inspired.
  5. Be true to yourself and your reason for being on LinkedIn.
  6. Develop a mindset of consistency.
  7. Join LinkedIn groups that are aligned with your mission.
  8. Prepare your content earlier, like 2 days before or a day before posting.
  9. Set time aside for engaging with other creatives and professionals, either in the comment section or in the DM.

As seen from the above 9 ways of being consistent on LinkedIn, we could say that there is no 1 magic formula to it. But since these methods have worked well on other creatives, they could work for you too.

Let’s have a look at the things to avoid when practicing consistency.

What To Avoid When Embarking On A Consistency Journey As A Creative

If you are starting a journey of consistency, it is advisable to let go of habits that are not productive. Habits such as:

  • Aimless scrolling on LinkedIn
  • Setting unrealistic goals
  • Pressurizing yourself
  • Being too dependent on other people for content ideas

And every other thing that has not and is not serving you well.

What To Embrace While On A Consistency Journey?

When you get intentional about showing up consistently on LinkedIn, there are a few things that you could look out for, just to get you going and push you through. They include;

  1. New insights from different creatives
  2. New friendships/connections
  3. LinkedIn events(attend them)
  4. Engaging in other people’s? content
  5. All challenges that come with the journey

To Sum it Up

Being consistent is not a ride in the park. But with the right intentions and enough discipline, you could reach your goals. Just let go of bad habits and embrace little things like attending LinkedIn events and nurturing great connections.

Just give it your all and you are sure of experiencing growth within no time.
