How to Connect the WDM MUX&DEMUX and Transceivers

With the increasing shortage of optical fiber resources?always in increasing fiber network, WDM with optical fiber expansion function is used more and more. The wavelength division multiplexer must be used together with the wavelength division transceiver.There are two types WDM links for options.

1, Dual fiber WDM?MUX&DEMUX connection

The following takes dual fiber CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) MUX/DEMUX (Multiplexer/Demultiplexer) as an example to introduce the connection method of dual fiber WDM?and transceiver.

As shown in Figure 1, this is a common point-to-point optical transmission scheme, using dual fibers to achieve multi wavelengths transmission. Both A and B use WDM?MUX/DEMUX?and WDM transceivers.

As shown in the figure 2, the?transceiver?is plugged into the switch, each transceiver?transmits a specific wavelength of light, the light transmitted by transceiver?is connected to the WDM MUX/DEMUX?of the combined wave (the upper row of Mux) channel port, transceiver?receiving port is also connected to the WDM MUX/DEMUX?of the solution wave (the lower row of Demux) channel port. Each transceiver?is connected in this way. After the link is connected, the light transmitted by each channel transceiver?is multiplexed into a beam of light from M-COM, and the light sent from the peer end enters the D-COM.

2, Single fiber WDM connection

Because the light receiving and light-transmitting are on a single fiber, half of the channel must be used to connect the light-transmitting port of the transceiver?and the other half to connect the light-receiving port of the transceiver?inside a WDM?MUX&DEMUX.

As shown in the figure 3, when the user needs to transmit 80G data with single-fiber?WDM, a 40-channel single-fiber?WDM MUX&DEMUX?is used.

As shown in the figure 4, for example, transceiver?with wavelength DWDM ITU-T C21-C28 is used at point A, and transceiver?with wavelength C31-38 is used at point B. Then the connection method is shown in the figure.?The optical transmitter?port of the C21 transceiver?at point A is connected to the C21 MUX&DEMUX, and the optical receiver?port is connected to the C31 of MUX&DEMUX. The connection methods for C22-C28 are similar. The optical transmitter?port of the C31 transceiver?at point B is connected to C31 of MUX&DEMUX, and the optical receiver?port is connected to C21 of MUX&DEMUX. The connection methods for C32-C38 are similar. Through this connection, both the receiver and the transmitter?are multiplexed into a single fiber for transmission.

Last but least, in single fiber WDM transmission link, there is another special solution, the same wavelength in both sites. When you want, ALL in OPTICS!
