Is confidence coaching similar to counselling?

Not really, both professionals in each of those areas will have specified objectives and expected outcomes for their clients. An example I refer to often relates this question to an overweight client I saw in the past. Even though he underwent a significant level of surgery for weight loss, he felt more intimately engaged and safe with me as his confidence coach than with the Doctor who performed the medical procedure.

He also felt much more involved and secure compared to a counsellor who ultimately helped him take the steps toward the surgery but ultimately he felt his sessions were framed as being "treated" and thought he was simply being evaluated and diagnosed.

However, as with all clients, regardless of the problems they face, success depends on the client's willingness to transform and their ability to feel confident enough to pursue those goals bringing everything full circle to how important confidence is when trying to accomplish our goals.
