How Competitive Intelligence is performed at Dell

The Israeli CI Forum (FIMAT) chaired by Dr. Avner Barnea together with Teldan Information systems were excited to welcome Jay Nakagawa, Director of Competitive Intelligence, Dell Technologies, who talked to more than 200 FIMAT members and other information experts about: “How Competitive Intelligence is performed at Dell”

Dell Technologies is a USD 94.4B company with a broad portfolio of products and services to help companies gain a competitive advantage in the respective markets in which they compete. Competitive intelligence is the cornerstone of Dell’s competitiveness, given the broad number of competitors in the market. This session was focused on what techniques and tools Dell utilize to maintain its competitive posture. Jay’s presentation was highly interesting, and our audience was attracted to hear how Jay manages a team of 18 competitive subject matter experts who cover Dell Technologies’ portfolio of solutions. Jay has held several positions in product marketing, product management, business development, sales, and systems engineering during his career with companies that include IBM, McDATA, and BEZ Systems. Mr. Nakagawa emphasized among other the importance of delivering to the satisfaction of the stakeholders and being able to give ab added value to the decision-making process. According to him, the use of various dedicated software platforms with strong visualization is critical to the success of the CI unit. The performance of his unit is constantly measured on both tactical and strategic intelligence. To finalize – it was a great opportunity for our Israeli audience to hear from an excellent speaker in a leading global corporation about its CI activity and how it is staying relevant.
