How Community Health Workers Can Be Part of the Solution

Around the world, community health workers have been shown to increase the use of preventive and primary care, decrease child and maternal mortality, and reduce emergency department use and hospitalizations.

As one example Ethiopia, despite limited resources, has managed to improve health outcomes by deploying community health workers who connect people in often marginalized communities to the health care system. Typically, these workers live in the areas they serve and speak the same language.

This is such important data. Absolutely, we train maternal mental CHWs for free. The access to care and resources they provide in communities is essential. https://www.renewell.org/mmchw

Community Health Workers are the key to reducing health inequalities. They make a huge impact across the world, with their unique abilities to engage with communities health services typically cannot. I am working on a project in Bristol, UK to get these roles funded with the backing of research.
