For Team communication in the workplace, we can consider certain elements ushering to a healthy work atmosphere. Positive Communication influences higher productivity within the team & it also lowers the probability of conflicts.
A few elements that can be observed for positive communication within the team are:
- Mindful about our Tone: our Tone plays an influential part in building a positive relationship within the team. The Tone can be based on the 3 Ps; Positive, Professional & Polite. It should not demonstrate authoritativeness.
- Promoting Two-Way Communication: Within a Team, it is crucial to support two-way communication. With speaking skills, we need to enable powerful listening skills. When we listen to someone attentively, the speaker feels acknowledged.
- Handling disagreements: In times of disagreement, we can be mindful while communicating our opinions. We can understand others' perspectives too without being disrespectful to them.
- Appreciate: Appreciate others. While appreciating, we can invariably refer to real-time situations. This validates the appreciation.
- One-on-One Feedback: While giving constructive feedback, choose one-on-one meetings. Though, start with an appreciation and subtly, incorporate the areas of improvement in the discussion.?
- Mode of Communication: Follow the preference of a mode of communication of team members. It could be by email, call or text. At certain Times, as a leader or a manager, one can set the protocols for determining the accurate mode of communication. This will encourage positivity within the Team.
