We all have a responsibility to communicate well to avoid misunderstandings.
If English IS your first language and you speak to a non-native English speaker, be patient and precise. Try to avoid using idioms, which can be easily misunderstood. Some of your cohorts, although they are advanced speakers of English, are still translating your words.
If English is NOT your first language and you are an EIL (English as an International Learner), it will help to try to learn or at least identify Idioms, so you don't fall behind in conversations while trying to translate the phrases word for word. ?
We aim to reduce communication breakdowns in a multilingual work environment and in life.
