In yesterday's post , I was able to convince you that writing a book is not only a way to show that you are knowledgeable and have achieved a lot in life; it is actually a very good way to jumpstart your career and business.
If you haven't read that post, please click here to read it before you continue with this.
I just realized that I didn't introduce myself in my previous post so let me do that quickly.
I am an award-winning author, publisher and digital marketer. I founded a publishing and digital marketing agency called Achievers Communications .
My writing and publishing career started some 9 years ago. As a young writer, one of the problems I faced was how to get my works out there.
But through determination and the help of mentors, I was able to published my first book in 2019.
We sold 200 copies of my first book in the first two weeks and reached 1,000 sales by the close of the first year.
I decided to share this story just to encourage you that your career and business dreams are valid and this content is probably the little push you need to get your breakthrough.
Now, to the topic of the day...
How Do You Get Great Ideas For Your Book!
I believe that the first hurdle on this journey is to decide to write your book (we've surmounted that), the next one is to decide on what to write about. This decision is one that will ultimately contribute to the success of your book.
When you are thinking about a book project, I want you to think like someone who's about to start a business, because, your book is a business!
Your book is a brand!
Your book is an extension of your personal brand so it is a brand. Unlike your academic or professional certificates that just bear your name and your qualifications, your book embodies your uniqueness, your ideas, your personality and shares all that with the world.

When you die, your certificates lose value but books you authored in your lifetime gain value!
So let's look at 1 out of the 3 ways you can extract great brand stories to make your book an exceptional one:
1. Recount your experience
This does not necessarily mean that you should have so many years of experience in your profession before you are qualified to write a book.
I believe that right from the time we were born, we have been gathering experiences in life. Two people can live in the same place, attend the same schools and work in the same organizations but will never have the same experiences in life.
Your experience in life is the window through which you see the world and we want to know about it.
We want to learn about your opinion about life, your ideas, your perspective about everything. That's what makes you unique.
Whether positive or negative, you have experienced certain things in life, and when you share that in a book, other's learn from you and the universe rewards you for contributing to life and progress.
So don't limit your experience to your profession, life is a bundle of experiences that unfolds daily.
I have two other ideas to share but let's look at that in tomorrow's edition. If you are enjoying this series, please share with your connections on LinkedIn and other platforms.
