How is COACHING like YARD CARE?! 3 Essential Marketing Principles You Need to Know

How is coaching like yard care?

That’s a question I had to ask myself early in my business…

When a yard care company asked me for help with their marketing!

Most of my training and experience had been focused on working with coaches.

So yard care was a whole new creative challenge for me!

But these people needed my help, and I knew I could help them.

Why?

Because there’s a set of principles every business owner, from coaches to yard care specialists, needs in their marketing.

Here are 3 of these essential principles:

1. Show how your clients’ lives will be better because they worked with you.

I’m NOT talking about abstract stuff like “you’ll remove mindset blocks” or “your yard will look tidier.”

I’m talking about EXPERIENCES your clients can see, hear, and FEEL themselves having.

Here are some examples:

- You’ll feel confident and enthusiastic during your sales calls, instead of nervous and guilty.

- You’ll be proud when your guests see your yard, instead of silently hoping they don’t notice the mess.

- You’ll feel lovable, strong, and desirable NOW. You don’t have to wait for a man to make you feel that!

- Your garden will bring you beauty, peace, and relaxation, not a tedious list of chores.

2. Show the pitfalls of doing this without you.

If they try to remove a tree on their own, they could damage their yard or house.

If they don’t improve their relationship skills, they could keep attracting people who hurt them…

Or keep feeling unlovable because they aren’t attracting ANYONE.

So what are some of the common mistakes or bad outcomes your ideal clients encounter?

And how do you help them avoid that?

Use this to show them why working with you is better than going it alone.

3. Help them realize how much their problem is affecting their life.

Maybe they think it isn’t urgent, or worth spending money on.

But in reality, their current way of being might be causing more harm than they realize!

For example, if their career is stressing them out, they could take it out on their loved ones…

Develop stress-related health conditions…

And have to spend time and money on therapy and medical appointments.

To be clear, the goal of bringing this to their attention is NOT to scare them.

It’s not to manipulate or pressure them into buying from you.

It’s to help them make an informed decision about whether working with you is a priority.

And it’s to help them realize their life could be so much better than they thought…

In ways they might not have realized were within reach!

No matter what type of coaching, product, or service you offer, you can use these principles to show your clients why your offer is ABSOLUTELY WORTH the price.

So what happened after I applied these principles to this yard care business’ website?

Here’s what the owner of the business said:

“When I first met Stephanie, I was getting some clients through my website, but not as many as I wanted.

“My main problem was that I didn’t know how to describe my services in writing in a way that my clients responded to.

“Stephanie rewrote much of my website, and within a couple weeks of applying her changes, I’d already given 2 client estimates in January, and I’ve never given estimates in January before.”

(By the way, this company had been in business roughly as long as I'd been ALIVE!)
