How to Coach Yourself to Your Strengths?

The Spirit is indeed willing, but the Flesh is weak

Jesus

The energy being of our spirit has the potential to be strong and capable. However, the mind matter of our body is often weak. To make the impossible possible we need to summon the strength of our energy being to support our mindbody.

We came into this world in a mindbody casing for a reason and purpose. This life purpose in Vedic philosophy is called the prarabda karma or prarabda for short. In the words of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, post-death we reappear in new clothes of a body and mind because of unfulfilled desires from the past life. Prarabda is the vasana, the seeds of those desires, and samskara, the desires. The fact that these desires created our rebirth means that they are strong, and they need to be fulfilled or transcended. This is the purpose of our lives.

In a previous blog , we looked at how we can discover our passion and purpose through metaphors. Metaphors are hidden symbols of why we came into existence. These are buried in our unconscious. Meditative techniques that energise the third eye chakra can help discover these metaphors to understand our life purpose. These can be learnt. Some have learnt these from me, discovered what they ought to be and could be, and eventually became that.

Here, we shall talk about matters of the flesh, not of the spirit. We shall not question whether the purpose for which we came into this life was for good or bad, as human ethics dictate. Nature doesn’t care. It creates and destroys. That is the cosmic law. However, as humans, we follow our collective and individual ethical codes.

As energy beings encased in mindbody matter, let’s look at what would make the flesh strong to fulfil the purpose of our existence. In a previous blog, I wrote about how patterns emerging from our past joyful events indicate our passion. Whatever caused us to achieve those joyful, powerful and empowered moments in life indicates our strengths.

For instance, gaining recognition makes some of us joyful. Doing something without any recognition or reward, only creating a powerful positive energy and emotional shift within makes some others joyful. Helping someone in need with no benefit to themselves makes some others joyful. Being in a relationship makes some joyful. These patterns in each of these people indicate a passion. What enables us to perform these joyful actions are the strengths we possess, which can support our passion.

For instance, reflections about what made me joyful revealed a pattern of helping people resolve their problems. Material rewards weren’t joyful memories, though the experience of helping people understand what they were going through in awareness made me joyful. I was successful and joyful as a corporate leader, later as a spiritual healer, and eventually as a coach through a combination of supporting others in awareness creation, and the power of empathetic communication. Coaching matched these factors. I took to coaching passionately and found it purposeful and spiritual.

The simplest way to be joyful and successful is by integrating purposeful passion with our strengths in everything we do. When we are passionate about something, the sheer joy of acting on it gives our us the energy to make our mindbody strong. You can never go wrong by following your passion. That’s what your heart desires you to do. List your purposeful passions arising from your pattern of joyful experiences. Then, list whatever others who know you well and you, notice as the enabling strengths leading to these experiences. Put together, these two provide you with the opportunities to make you happy, successful and fulfilled.

I meet clients who are very successful in acquiring power and wealth at a young age but are discontent and unhappy. They get burnt out and stop doing what they do. Sometimes, they cannot get off the tiger they are riding. They know that what they do makes them unhappy, but do not know what would make them happy. Such people haven’t figured out their passion, though they know their strengths. Strengths alone do not make one happy, though they may temporarily make you successful.
