How to Clone Yourself

How many times have you said it? If only there were two of me.

Well, thanks to GPTs from OpenAI, you can have two of you, kind of. For those that do not know, GPTs are "custom versions of ChatGPT that you can create for a specific purpose—called GPTs. GPTs are a new way for anyone to create a tailored version of ChatGPT to be more helpful in their daily life, at specific tasks, at work, or at home—and then share that creation with others."

Keep in mind, if you do not want to create your own GPT, you can leverage those created and shared by others. My law firm has created numerous GPTs to help with various things. I recently shared one that we have internally used in case it can help others, specifically in connection with various website terms and compliance issues, called SiteLegal Check.

The number of use cases is endless. Think about the mundane, repetitive tasks you still do, or pay someone else to do. Think about the ways you can provide deeper, better advice faster. Where can your customer journey be improved and systematized? Having answered some of these questions, get into the tool and start building. Before you think this presents an opportunity like during COVID-times when people were working from home doing and being paid for two jobs at once, be mindful of the limitations. If you are any kind of professional advisor, especially one requiring licensure, you will quickly notice that GPTs are not a replacement for, but instead merely a tool, in your practice. DO NOT BE ONE OF THE ADVISORS ADMONISHED PUBLICLY FOR PASSING OFF AI-WORK AS YOUR OWN, ONLY TO FIND OUT THE AI WAS WRONG.

A true clone is unlikely, at least for now. However, an AI-assisted tool that leads to more data-supported, faster and perhaps even better advice is already here. Leverage it appropriately.
