Yes, Online Marketing Is Competitive
Just when you figure out your marketing and ad (or posted content) strategies to mitigate your anxiety, enhance your confidence, and boost your business, another rapacious monster rears its ugly head.
Watching Others Succeed
Think about how often you research products, services, and businesses and can’t believe how well they are reviewed. Not only are the comments stellar, but some are numerous and even lengthy. In contrast, your reviews appear paltry or insignificant.
Surely, the business owners are doing something magical or just plain brilliant. You consider taking their courses and reading their books to emulate them because they must know something you don’t.
Some People Are Naturally Skilled
Don’t get me wrong. Some people use their extraordinary gifts, talents, accomplishments, experience, interpersonal skills, and consistent efforts to build and maintain phenomenally successful and honorable enterprises.?
They serve their customers well; consequently, those customers organically enhance marketing reach by letting others know. Word of mouth is a potent multiplier.
Some entrepreneurs start their businesses at the right place at the right time with the right solution to a problem that resonates with millions of people.
Kudos to all those businesses.
Other Business Owners Compromise Their Values
This is about other owners who supposedly know something you don’t.
Believe me, they do. They know how to entice people by misrepresenting themselves, their success, and the quality of their products or services. One method they use capitalizes on an effective tool called a click farm or fraud farm.
Illegal click farms are not new; several well-established operations exist. However, they are a menace because they hurt unsuspecting victims while jeopardizing public trust in businesses, including those run ethically.
How Click Farms Became Popular
Initially, business people paid a certain fee whenever someone clicked on their internet ad or invitation. However, like all services, the fees eventually increased to the point where the temptation to cheat inevitably overtook advertisers. That’s why many migrated to click farms.

What Click Farms Are and How They Work
With people being so busy nowadays, one might wonder when they will have time to pursue celebrities, services, or products and provide so many different responses. News flash: most of them don’t. One study revealed that only about 50% of internet activity is produced by humans instead of bots (simple computer automation).
A click farming or review farming process involves inflating someone’s popularity or celebrity (and generating more sales) by faking the number of clicks, likes, views, survey responses, etc. that people receive for their content.? For example, internet influencers and politicians sometimes pay for likes to boost their popularity and present themselves as virtually irresistible.
There are even services that provide the technology necessary to pull the charade off successfully.
What an Operation Looks Like
At click farms, huge and typically low-paid groups sit among clusters of PCs and are assigned to feign enthusiasm for someone or something. They repeatedly interact with content in posting loops, simulating a flurry of genuine internet traffic. The groups also monitor hundreds of phones, following users’ activities and inflating numbers by liking photos and watching videos incessantly.
They also train people to bypass features like CAPTCHAs and copy one action to thousands of networked devices.
The Use of Click Bots
In addition, bots (sometimes called click bots) and the platforms they operate on constantly manipulate internet activity data worldwide, resulting in inaccurate numbers and analyses. Computer language tools like JavaScript are considerably more efficient than human effort, but they are also more costly.
The Process Is Sometimes Less Formal
Click farms aren’t limited to structured criminal enterprises. Some people, especially those who manage or belong to extremely large groups, will use acquaintances to praise services or products they have never read, tested, or used. For instance, they may use different account names and devices to simulate a video going viral.
