How Clara is progressing in her career through life changes

A career with ICF is more than a job. It’s an opportunity to be a part of something bigger to change lives. This is what brought Senior Consultant in Public Policy Clara Cotroneo to an interview in 2021. ?

“I knew about ICF through a previous employer. I was impressed with the organization and the quality of work they were delivering. I thought this would be a step forward in my career.”

While eager to join the team to begin influencing policymakers’ decisions, Clara wasn’t sure what to anticipate during her interview when she shared she was 5 months pregnant.

“I was congratulated by my hiring manager, who told me ICF has a good family-friendly culture — and it proved to be true! My manager leads by example by encouraging us to be ambitious professionally, and not to forget the joys of having a family and little ones.”

Her son Francesco is now 7-months old. And Clara is excited she has been able to progress in her career through these life changes.

“Francesco has already seen his mum in action, from developing successful bid proposals and managing projects for EU institutions and agencies!”

She’s also taken a very targeted learning course on the European Commission’s methodology for conducting impact assessments. It’s helped her work up to the standard and expectations she wants to meet for one of her main clients.
