3 Tips for a Beautiful, Bright, and Glowing Face!
?Typically when we think of makeup colors and shades, we set out to find the perfect match for our skin color and tone. There’s nothing worse than wearing a chalky foundation in the summer when skin tends to get darker or wearing a dark shade when skin is paler in the winter. Essentially, when it comes to selecting the perfect makeup colors, we actually have to consider more than just the season or our skin color. In this week’s post, I’m going to walk you through how to find makeup colors that not only look like your skin – but also enhance it in any circumstance! The best part? You’ll know how to customize a color palette for yourself that works well with any lighting.?
#1. Find Your Undertone?
The right skin color is the foundation of all makeup.?If you don’t have the right foundation color for your skin, the rest of your makeup will disappear into glaring incongruity and imbalance. To avoid this problem, a good rule of thumb is to figure out your undertone before settling on a foundation, powder, concealer, and other makeup shades.
?Undertones are the colors in your skin that do not change. While there are three main undertones: cool, warm, and natural, an undertone is a watercolor-like blend of various colors. So, you may have, for example, pink, peach, yellow, olive, and silver undertones. When selecting a product look at the description for keywords like cool, warm, spice, toasty, etc. Then lean the undertone into your specific watercolor blend. The goal with any foundation is to ensure a fresh, bright, and glowing look rather than a gray, dark, dirty, or dingy appearance.?

TIP:?Always remember that you can blend different foundations together. You can strip test different swatches alongside one another on your cheek. Once you’ve selected your shade, remember to bring it all the way down your jawline and neck to ensure a seamless transition of color.
#2. Find Your Hue

?The next step is to discover your hue. Hue is the true color of primary colors mixed together, with an intermediate color (primary color and the half-saturation of another primary color). You end up with a basic and intense color that you can apply to your lips and eyelids to enhance or adjust your features. Once you find your perfect hue, you’ll be able to change the brightness and density depending on the time of day, event, or season.?
?TOOL:?To find your tone, examine your skin and determine what tones and temperatures you are seeing in it. In undertones, we looked for cool, warm, or neutral. Here you are looking on a scale of light versus deep color hues.
?#3. Find Your Value & Intensity?
With value, the goal is to look at which colors are complementing each other, and are an integral part of your appearance. The scale of value would be found based on your hair: is it pure, tinted, toned, or shaded? Next, for intensity, you’ll want to determine how saturated your eyes are with color. Examine your eyes, and decide on the intensity of your eye color. Are your eyes bright, light, medium, or dark?
