The global pandemic has had a disruptive effect on all our lives and we have been forced to change the way we do business and live. For this reason, may training providers have taken to providing training via live webinar.
While stuck at home, many individuals decided to take the opportunity to up-skill themselves, but now we are returning to work and have to choose which webinars to attend more carefully to make the best use of our time.
To make an informed decision, we need as much information as possible before clicking on that “Join” link, so that is the intention of this article. To provide information about what you will get from a Regal webinar.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone may attend a Regal webinar, so here is some insight for individuals who may benefit from these webinars:
- Technicians / Installers: If you are an installer of security hardware, these webinars will give you a technical understanding of these products, teach or remind you about best installation practices and demonstrate how so setup, manage and support this technology.
- Installer Managers & Business Owners: Know what is going on in the field, customer needs and what you need to know to successfully manage your installers and run your installation business from a technical perspective.
- Sales Representatives: Learn about the technology to empower yourself to do effective site surveys and choose the correct solution for your customers, even before you send them a quotation. The better technical understanding you have, the better equipped you are to sell!
- End-users / Customers: Understanding the equipment you will have installed to ensure you get the most out of what you paid for. You will also be able to make better, informed decisions about your own needs and what solutions best suit those needs.
All of our training focuses on the fundamentals of each topic, and are useful to both the experienced and inexperienced alike, as you are sure to learn something new, improve your understanding or be reminded of important factor within our industry or the technology. These webinars include digital manuals, links to useful resources and shared drives for additional tools and videos.
WHAT YOU GET FROM SPECIFIC WEBINARS:
The CCTV Analogue training focuses on analogue cameras and DVRs, but there is a lot of information in this course that pertains to any CCTV solution, both Analogue and IP.
The following points will be taught/explained, along with practical demonstrations during the CCTV Analogue training.
- Understand the benefits of CCTV. This is the reason why end-users need/want CCTV. Understand the opportunities or problems that can be solved.
- Know the different analogue CCTV technologies. Understanding this will ensure that the correct technology is sold to the end-user and installed so that integration with existing systems works.
- The different components of a CCTV camera. Knowing this helps both technical and sales people choose the correct camera for each scene and understand the performance an end-user will experience from each camera.
- Choosing equipment/components for a CCTV solution. Not only will you learn how to conduct a proper site survey to choose the correct equipment for a client solution so that we provide better and more accurate quotations, you will also get a site survey document that will guide you through this process. How to use the CCTV site survey document will be explained during the webinar.
- Transmission media and installation practices. Choosing the correct transmission media (cable) can mean the difference between decent and great scene capture.
- Video processing equipment (DVR). Know what to consider when choosing a DVR, the HDD and monitor for the end-user solution, technical consideration, setup and configuration to ensure that end-users get what they expect.
The foundation of a successful digital/IP CCTV solution is an effective, healthy network infrastructure and the proper use of communication protocols. Having a remote view of the CCTV system has become the industry norm.
The following points will be taught/explained, along with practical demonstrations during the CCTV Digital training.
- Network Fundamentals: Understand why networks are required in the workplace and how they benefit both companies and individuals.
- Network Hardware: Learn about the components of a physical network, the responsibility of each component, important considerations and best installation practices. Choosing the correct components is essential.
- Network Communication Settings: A network will only function properly if the correct communication protocols are used in the correct way and properly understood.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Learn about the basic tips, tools and methods for ensuring your physical network works properly, determine networks settings and test that communication is effective.
- NVR & IP Camera configuration: Activate a Hikvision NVR and IP camera, configure their networks settings and link a camera to the NVR.
- Remote View setup: Setup a remote view to the CCTV system, from anywhere in the world, in two different ways.
A challenge we often encounter in the security industry is connecting multiple networks over long distances e.g. an IP camera that is installed far from the main building network. When the option to run cable is not possible, too expensive or undesirable, an effective solution would be to setup a wireless link.
The following points will be taught/explained, along with practical demonstrations during the WIS Networks training.
- Understanding the Concept: What data can move through a wireless link, and when is a wireless link possible? Learn how to determine if a link will be possible and how to choose the correct devices for the job.
- Frequencies: Learn about the most commonly used frequencies used in wireless network links and licensing when using these frequencies.
- Main Components: Understand what makes a wireless link possible and how each component functions within a wireless link.
- Link Specifications: Learn about link specifications, what they are, how they work and what to know about changing them.
- CPE, Antennas & Base Stations: Wireless equipment come in different forms. Lean what they are, how they function and common uses for each type.
- Link Calculations: You will not have to do your own calculations, but it is important to understand what is being calculated for each link.
- Link Adjustments (Fine Tuning): Fine tune your link for the best possible communication. This is one of the major factors in the industry that contribute to poor or effective communication.
- Software & Spectrum Analysis: Learn about software that can be used for planning a wireless link as well as software designed for managing your wireless hardware.
- Specking a Solution: Understand what must be considered to speck your wireless link along with best practices and considerations
- Demonstration: Watch a live demonstration of setting up a wireless link, spectrum analysis and fine tuning to put into practice all that was learned during the training.
The above-mentioned webinars are hosted by Raffaello Bargiacchi, but there are other webinars also being hosted by Neil Marks. Both Raffaello and Neil are trainers at Regal Distributors SA (Pty) Ltd. Below are the webinars being hosted by Neil:
