Polytunnels are best suitable year-round in the Himalayas with a heating system during winters or northern plains for seasonal production during winters. 2. Net houses are best for summer production in hot dry climates but not good for rainy and winter seasons. 3. Polyhouses are suitable for year-round production in a mild climate' not good for hot dry and humid climates causing very high temperatures and humidity leading to yield and quality losses. 4. Fan and Pad system is good for small operations of nursery propagation and hardening. Also for hydroponics growing in urban and periurban areas. It leads to high capital and operative costs due to high water and power consumption. 5. Retractable Roof Greenhouse/Cooling house/ Orchard/ Field covers are best suitable for year-round production of crops in hot and mild climates whether dry or humid. But not good for cold climates where heating is required. It leads to a 90 % reduction in fungicide uses and a 40-60 % reduction in pesticides besides 1-3 kWh of power consumption and minimum water consumption needed for high-pressure fogging or low-pressure misting systems.
