How to choose the right CMS platform?

How to choose the right CMS platform?

Your CMS is the chassis of your content promoting campaign. It doesn’t matter however great your content is, if your CMS can’t show and manage it right, it won’t have nearly half the impact it deserves.

This may sound like a moot point, however there are many organizations plateau because their CMS can’t maintain with their ambitions or their growth. the fact that you just can’t turn your CMS with a flick of a button makes your choice all the more important.

What is a content management system?

A content management system (CMS) is an application that allows you to create and run your website. You will get an admin panel – an interface where you can create and update pages, posts and other types of content (images, videos, etc) and arrange the content the way you need.

You will also be able to change the design of the site through the admin panel by installing themes and changing them when you want by website development company in Bangkok. All the actions are done simply by clicking buttons – you will not have to write codes or scripts in most cases.

What is an Open Source CMS?

The leaders in CMS world are WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. Not only are they free but also they’re open source CMS engines. which means their source code is open to the public.

You can use, edit and customize the core files of the engine on your website and if you discovered an excellent way to improve the platform, you can pitch it to the web developer Bangkok and help creating their engine even cooler in the next update.

Which CMS should you choose?

There are 3 giants in the CMS world: Drupal, Joomla and WordPress. they have been around since 2000, 2005 and 2003 respectively, and there are no rivals for them outside this trio. All 3 platforms are free. however how can you know which CMS is best for you?

Let us analyze each of these platforms one by one, with the most popular first.

WordPress:

WordPress is an open source CMS that powers over half of the world’s CMS sites, and it’s getting more comprehensive, intuitive and popular with every new update release. WordPress contains a committed community, tons of free extensions (more than any other CMS) and also the easiest-to-use interface.

Managing your content with WordPress is perfectly simple: you create a page, add it to the menu, post something on that and see your content on the front-end of your website by web developer Thailand. All that adds up to a preeminent CMS platform. so why do so many people select WordPress for their site? because WordPress is the easiest CMS to use.

Jhoomla:

Some say Joomla found the proper balance between customization possibilities and user-friendliness, yet it’s much more complicated than WordPress. Bear in mind that if you have never worked with this engine before, you’ll need some time to get used to modifying it. assigning plugins to modules, positioning modules on different pages, configuring layouts and other necessary manipulations will be harsh on a beginner.

On the other hand, Joomla extension developers and community have come up with several inspired solutions to common web design issues that are hard to resolve in WordPress. If we take any Joomla slider extension as an example, you can set its location on the page, the duration for showing every slide, the sliding effect and the kind of pagination.

Drupal:

Lots of things which, in WordPress or Joomla, would require custom coding, have ready-made solutions in the default Drupal. And it can be enhanced even more with third-party extensions. But I will be honest with you – learning to operate it is a real challenge. It takes a lot of work and patience to master. Drupal is a perfect fit for huge serious websites and for organizations that can afford full-time administrators. A good example is the White House site running on Drupal.

What factors do you need to consider while choosing the platform for the website?

The most necessary thing to consider while selecting a CMS platform, in my opinion, is how much time you’re ready to spend developing and maintaining it. If you’re experienced in basic HTML and PHP coding and about to create a big online project with many contributors involved, you should probably go with Drupal.

If you aim for a middle-sized social network or news website, try Joomla. WordPress with all its enhancement possibilities are a perfect for beginners. a very simple WordPress based website will later evolve into any kind of site you want it to be.
