How to choose the right boxing ring for your boxing club?
Do you want to open a boxing club or provide boxing at your gym? You’ll need to choose the right boxing ring and training equipment. Choosing an established, high-quality brand that you can trust is important. As professional manufacture in boxing equipment production, we can give you some suggestions. The boxing ring is the core of every boxing gym. Let's take a look at how to choose the right boxing ring.
The core component of any suitable boxing gym is the boxing ring. Practicing on the boxing ring allows your students to get used to their environment and learn how to use it. The boxing ring is limited space, so your students should learn how to push opponents and use the ring strategically. On the contrary, when they are defensive in the game, they need to learn how to get out and avoid getting into trouble. There are many ways to demonstrate these ideas, but it is difficult to train them without the ring itself.
Questions you need to consider:
You need to decide if your ring will be floor-mounted, if you're going to move it around or even store it away. Are your members professional boxers or amateur training? What is the area of your club? What is your budget?
1. Choice of installation location
Should my boxing ring be installed on the floor? Yes it is? Then we recommend that you choose a fixed boxing ring. This type of ring is designed to stay in the same place in your gym.
However, if you need to constantly change places to use the boxing ring, we strongly recommend that you use a portable installation boxing ring. It is ideal for a multifunctional sports center because you can easily set up the room without breaking the floor.
2. Ring Dimensions
A standard ring is between 16 and 24 feet (4.9 and 7.3 m) to a side between the ropes with another 2 feet (0.61 m) outside. The platform of the ring is generally 3 to 4 feet (0.91 to 1.22 m) from the ground and is covered by about 1 inch (25 mm) of padding topped by stretched canvas. The ropes are approximately 1 inch (25 mm) in diameter and at heights of 18, 30, 42, and 54 inches (.46, .76, 1.07, and 1.37 m) above the mat, held up on posts rising around 5 feet (1.5 m) above the mat. The ropes are attached together with spacers that prevent them from spreading too far apart.
The height of the boxing ring needs to be selected according to the actual situation of the club. For example, the floor can be built level with the surface of the floor if your facility has low or standard height ceilings. Rings built for competition, however, have floors that are one meter off the ground. Of course, ring floors can be built to any height(0m-1m) in between to suit the specific layout of your facility. For an authentic feel, though, you should try and get as close to a full-height ring as possible.
3.Ring Structure Material
With any sports, you want to avoid any mishaps or hurt due to equipment failure, so make sure to pick a ring that is built solid. Steel is a must. Tube thickness has to more than 2mm, 3mm or 4mm will be better. In fact, you want your ring to use as much steel in its construction as possible. The best choice is plug-in structure, no screws fixed, easy to disassemble.
4. Floor materials
Canvas floor coverings are standard canvas, but other materials such as PVC can also be used, but the disadvantage of PVC is that it is slip. You want to look for non-slip surfaces, such as canvas, to avoid injury due to mistakes or changing the course of the game. A 2.5cm-4cm thick EVA pad is needed under the floor covering, which has good resilience and a comfortable foot feel. Look for thick, dense pads to provide maximum shock absorption, protect the players’ joints, etc. In the middle of the boxing ring, you can customize your stadium logo to enhance brand awareness and reflect professionalism.
A great boxing ring is the core of your gym and perhaps the biggest investment, so choose carefully and choose wisely. You don't want to be stingy on the boxing ring. A good product can cost thousands of dollars, but if you buy the right product for the first time, you can save money without having to replace it.
