And of course, you’ll be helping families who face some of the biggest daily challenges - physical, emotional and financial - in the south west.? Jessie May provides qualified nursing care to children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions in the security and comfort of their own home.

Hospice care, especially hospice care for children, is chronically underfunded in this region, and without Jessie May, our children and their families would be left with appallingly low levels of support.

Jessie May children have complex needs and often require supervision 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our nurses enable parents and carers to have a few hours of respite, content in the knowledge that their child is safe, well and happy. They also provide opportunities for play and stimulation for the child and offer short breaks to parents when their child is in hospital.

The relationship that our nurses have with the child, and the continuity we provide, give the family confidence that their child will have one-to-one focused care and attention from someone who really knows them and their needs. They can leave their child in safe hands whilst they attend to other family commitments, work, life admin, or simply take a break.

We offer wrap around care for the whole family, because having a Jessie May child in the family affects everyone.? We have a family engagement team which stages family friendly events throughout the year, bringing families together to network, make memories and have fun together.? And at the end of life, our bereavement coordinator and the peer support groups we run are there for the whole family.
