What needs to be done to electrify Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in the Global South? The eBRT2030 project brings together expertise from diverse stakeholders, including public transport operators, bus manufacturers, technology providers, and academia. The project will test these innovative solutions in real-life demos across Europe and share valuable lessons with the Global South. ? An important focus of the project will be to translate and apply eBRT solutions not only in Europe, but also to tackle challenges on pollution and emissions in developing countries. MCG is one of 20 companies in the Portuguese Decarbonization Roadmap for the National Automotive Sector, a Mobinov and KPMG project. ? https://lnkd.in/dcQ96ReD Smart cities can play an important role in the automotive sector as they seek solutions capable of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting "clean" mobility, and stimulating innovation in different industries. To achieve these goals, it is necessary to encourage the use of electric vehicles, invest in efficient transport infrastructure, develop more advanced connectivity and traffic management technologies, and improve the quality of life of inhabitants, contributing to an environment favorable to the development of "cleaner" and more technologically advanced solutions. In this context, the development of the Decarbonization Roadmap for the National Automotive Sector has the objectives of reducing the impact of these industries on the environment by reducing their emissions and, at the same time, contributing to their greater adaptation and resilience to future climate challenges. - Portuguese Decarbonization Roadmap for the National Automotive Sector: Mobinov and 20 companies representing the automotive sector initiated a project to analyze and develop measures focused on reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. The project aims to help the automotive sector achieve carbon neutrality in 2050! Good and balanced panel which I was delighted to support this morning, in which we:- ·?????identified SAF as the main fuel pathway to 2050; ·?????welcomed mandates and revenue certainty mechanisms; ·?????called for ambition beyond 2030 and globally for success; ·?????discussed efficiency and its global impact via our products such as UltraFan; ·?????identified the urgent need to unlock so-called externalities (‘the 70%’); ·??? discussed hydrogen as feedstock (essential to the energy transition in aviation) and hydrogen technology distinctly. ‘Green electrons’ were another common theme all morning, and a ‘zero regret’ action to start now to allow the scaling of future fuels as well as decarbonise the nation. Clear options are available, which greater certainty will help unlock and/or accelerate, such that new fuels become available which can be used efficiently in high-power-density gas turbines. ??
Harry Malins, Chief Innovation Officer at the Aerospace Technology Institute joins the panel at Innovation Zero Aviation and Shipping Forum: Moving from R&D to commercial reality. Accelerating the adoption of ultra-efficient and zero-carbon emission aircraft technologies will be key to achieving Net Zero 2050 and securing UK market share. Harry said: "The enabling conditions have to be in place across infrastructure, energy and the aerospace ecosystem. The ATI's Hydrogen Capability Network is working to bring industry, government and academia together to create the right conditions to develop and bring into reality advanced hydrogen aircraft technologies at pace." Reflecting on recent progress, Harry added: "We launched our SME Programme and have seen a significant amount of interest from the aerospace ecosystem on developing technologies to address the decarbonisation challenge which reflects the strength and depth of the aerospace supply chain in the UK." Other reflections from the panel: ?? It's a global effort ?? Certification is a key enabler and will be driven by the safety case ? Energy system readiness is critical to delivering both SAF and hydrogen at scale ?? The aerospace sector is learning quickly and these lessons can be applied across all elements of hydrogen on board aircraft and at airports ??
