How is car wheel nut torquing used to set wheel bearings?
Note that this pertains only to the older tapered roller bearings, and not to any of the modern complete unit wheel bearings which cost many times more to replace... each set of bearings has its own specification. One torques the axle nut gradually while rotating the wheel to ensure that the rollers are all fully seated in their races with a minimum of grease between the rollers and their races. Once a specified torque is reached, the bearings are considered to be in a preloaded condition, too tight for operation. One now backs up the nut some specified number of degrees (generally about 90 degrees, 1/4 turn), selects the nearest castellation on the axle nut, and sets the cotter key to lock the nut in that position. we have many carnbsp; wheel nut, wheel bolt, wheel lock nbsp;and so on,also you can visit our website: www.honishen.com
