How to Capture the Value of Nutrition in Consumer Health?

We are likely all familiar with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs but I thought it would be interesting to look at it from the perspective of converging products between foods & beverages, and consumer health, and more specifically thinking about the life-cycle and innovation of products within said industries.

As we move up the pyramid, we observe that the types of product we create become more niche and innovative moving closer towards customised and personalised offerings with a balanced blend of product, technology and services.

As we become more niche, the benefits of the type of products we design also become more specific and often 'science/research-based' (reiterating what I often refer to as the "Commercialisation of Science").

A good tool to keep in mind during the product development journey, building resilience in your product portfolio and innovation pipeline.
