How to Capture Magical Moments

Have you attended any memorable book launches? We’ve covered a few, and the common thread is inspiration! This is true for the launch of Christine (Chris) Stormer-Fryer's 9th published book, titled Take The Next Step – It’s All in the Feet. “Affectionately known as the Universal Foot Lady, Chris is renowned globally for her innovative and pioneering spirit as a reflexologist, visionary and author. Her more wholistic approach to healing ensures that natural remedies keep pace with the phenomenal strides of human evolution and discovery.”

The book launch happened at Chris and her husband John’s beautiful farm, which is a few hours’ drive from Johannesburg. This presented the perfect opportunity to include aerial drone footage in the video that my husband Dave and I created of the event. Chris’s talented editor and cover designer weren’t able to attend the launch, so we filmed them sharing their messages at Chris and John’s former home in Rivonia. Then we incorporated that footage into the video by zooming in and out from the farm to their home. This is the result:

There was so much magic to capture, from John’s piano playing, his introduction and Chris’s insightful presentation to the gorgeous surroundings, delicious food and special guests. I was honoured to say a few words too, about my contribution of editing more than a hundred of Chris’s vibrant hand-drawn charts that were scanned for inclusion in the book. Yes, I got a bit emotional, if you watch the video above ;-) because it was such a blessing to do this work, especially last year, which made my experience during lockdown deeply inspiring. It was tricky to select just a handful of our photos but here they are!
