How Canopus SuperNetflow could have prevented the most recent Netflix live-stream fiasco
The Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight was the most streamed sporting event ever, with several Communication Service Providers (CSPs) reporting traffic surges of 50-100% in their networks.
Canopus SuperNetflow not only identified the streaming traffic, but also quantified the user experience impact in real-time during the live event, not after, lending credence to the anecdotally reported user frustrations and even a potential lawsuit. CSPs armed with SuperNetflow can take actions within seconds to dynamically and automatically provision more resources and seamlessly assure the best user experience.
Canopus's AI-driven measurement platform, called SuperNetflow, has helped our CSPs customers globally see the extent to which each video stream experienced lower resolutions and buffer freeze. As an example, this mobile network operator could observe within 30 seconds the proportion of low definition video (shown in red) become 2x compared to its previous peak, and could even track key video metrics such as startup delay, playable resolution, and buffer health for each subscriber, all in real-time! Any other tool in the market would take 60 minutes to report the service degradation, thus unable to take any proactive action.
At Canopus we are proud to be able to give CSPs quantitative and actionable insights on application performance so they can measure, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize their networks with a singular objective in mind – providing a marvelous user experience on their streaming, gaming, voice/video calling, and any other real-time applications.
