A Patient Focus, Incredible Caregivers, and Helping People Live the Healthiest Lives Possible

I appreciate moments like this where I can reflect and share the never ceasing appreciation I have for the caregivers at Intermountain. I'm grateful every day for the chance to work with such a mission-driven and talented team. I wish I could thank you individually and in person — but I'm glad to have the chance to highlight five ways our teams really shine:

1. Thanks to those who'll be sacrificing time with families and loved ones to care for our patients over the holidays. I know from personal experience how deeply meaningful it is to care for people who are hospitalized or receiving urgent care on a day meant for celebrating family and friends. Thank you for bringing an extra measure of comfort and showing compassion to those who may be feeling especially lonely on Thanksgiving Day. And please give your loved ones our thanks for their support as you do this important work.

2. Thank you for putting the interests of our patients ahead of your own. Every day in our huddles we hear stories recognizing caregivers who performed in a highly ethical way, even if they risked upsetting someone. And thank you for always doing the right thing for our patients.

3. Thanks for giving everyone on our teams a sense of belonging. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team have developed wonderful tools for making sure everyone who joins the Intermountain team feels at home. For me, our Central Laundry remains one of our best examples for how powerful it can be to create a strong sense of belonging. There are more than 24 languages and dialects spoken on that team — and yet they all speak the language of love in their passion for their work at Intermountain. Please take a couple of minutes to watch this video celebrating them.

4. Thank you for your volunteer service, and for supporting our servicewomen and men serving in the military. At Intermountain, we want to be a force for good in our communities. I'm in awe of how many Intermountain caregivers spend considerable discretionary time volunteering in churches and communities and for wonderful causes. And, of course, a very heartfelt thanks to who are serving our country, and those back at home who support them.

5. Finally, thank you for giving your all to help people live the healthiest lives possible. Because of you, Intermountain Healthcare provides safe, high-quality, compassionate care at a value that's second to none. What's more, we're getting better all the time. Thank you!
