The legendary David Ogilvy used to say “Tell the truth, but make the truth fascinating.”
This is precisely at the heart of building a trusted brand.
You need to be truthful, authentic and consistent with your brand values.
So, Apple is always about innovation while Nike encourages you to to just do it.
This also means aligning your brand values, voice, and vision with your actions and communications.
It's quite easy to do this when you have a strong all prevailing USP and unfortunately many brands can go for decades without actually discovering their USP.
Another key factor for building brand trust is to be transparent and honest in your digital marketing.
This means being open and clear about your products, services, prices, policies, and processes.
You also need to be responsive to your audience and resolve complaints quickly before it escalates.
The best ads are the ones that educate and brands that use content marketing to provide value to its audience can build trust with the audience.
While brands using fancy mindless campaigns get laughed at by the GenZ and Millennial crowd.
The consumer also expects your brand to be ethical. This means respecting and protecting your audience's privacy, data, and rights.
Your brand also needs to be adaptable and move with changing needs, preferences, and behaviors of your audience, as well as the evolving trends, technologies, and opportunities in the digital landscape.
Prove you can do what you say you can do. Provide real-world examples over time to show your progress
