How Can You Beat 70M Employed Job Seekers When You're Unemployed?

How Can You Beat 70M Employed Job Seekers When You're Unemployed?

The good news is that employers are still hiring, and there are more jobs advertised than?unemployed?job seekers.

But you're not just competing against?unemployed?job seekers.

Currently employed job seekers continue to flood job markets in 2023. Many currently employed workers/manager/executives who stayed in the same job for many years valued the safety of their jobs. But that safety came at the cost of delayed/missed career movement, frustration of doing 2 people's (even 3 or 4) work, increased unpaid overtime, removal of remote work options, poor raises/bonuses, reduced benefits, or once safe jobs/companies that are no longer safe in the face of an upcoming recession.

That's why labor economists project that 43% of US currently employed workers (that's 70M+ people) will change jobs in 2023, plus 2M?unemployed, all competing for 9.6M advertised jobs. That's 7.3 job seekers for each job, when you count currently employed competitors.

Even with these high levels of competition, here are 3 ways you can beat?unemployment, when you compete against many employed job seekers:

  1. Do More:?You need to do more in your job search, because you have to overcome tougher challenges, and tougher competitors. Plus, what you've been doing so far hasn't been working ...
  2. Do The Opposite:?Do the opposite of your competition, of what you’ve been taught by outplacement, by your friends/family/mentors, and most career coaches/authors. These sources teach average job search strategies, but you have much bigger than average job search problems. You've already tried what they've suggested - How's that workin' for 'ya?
  3. Avoid Online Applications:?Avoid them like the plague ... because they give you horrible odds of success (0.01% chance of landing any job you've applied to online, according to 2 job board studies). There's gotta' be a better way than sending 10,000 resumes.

These strategies are very different than what you're doing now and what you're used to. You face a tougher than average job search problem, and it requires different solutions to succeed.

The good news is that I specialize in solving the toughest job search problems, and have helped thousands of job seekers who were?unemployed, over 40, career/industry/geographic changers, remote job seekers, job search turnarounds, in declining industries, long term job searches, returning from family leave and other of the toughest job search problems.
