How can World Parliament Day improve your health?
States Assembly – Jersey's elected parliament
Welcome to the official page of Jersey’s elected parliament.
Friday 30 June is World Parliament Day (aka UN International Parliamentarism Day) and it’s an opportunity to take the kind of action which might just make you healthier and happier. ‘How’s that possible?’ you might ask. Allow us to elaborate.
Just over a year has passed since Jersey’s last election, and while voting is an incredibly important way to have your voice heard, it’s just one action you can take during the political cycle. There are many ways you can keep participating outside of election time and it is in your own interests that you do, because communities with high civic engagement are generally healthier and have more success with education and employment.
Why get involved? We all care about different things and are motivated to respond to causes where we feel a connection. Some issues matter to us more than others, and where they do, it’s time to take action. ?Speak up. Describe why you and people like you may be negatively affected by something. Talk about why a change or improvement is necessary. Explain how other Islanders might also benefit. Be an advocate for the Jersey you’d like to see.
So, what can you do in Jersey to get involved and stay engaged?
