?? How can we reimagine social impact funding?

Hello,

In today’s social impact field, funding drives the outcomes and changes we see. Yet, the funders who hold this power and influence seldom carefully consider their impacts on some of the world’s most complex challenges. When deciding what resources and support are deployed for communities, funders can be driven by accountability metrics and end up developing flashy rather than people-focused outcomes. In this context, what would it mean to reimagine funding??

In the latest episode of the Reimagining Government podcast, my co-host, Adrian Brown, and I sat down with Will Wade and Tom Pruunsild from Climate-KIC and Ankit Gupta from the Global Fund for Women. These esteemed leaders are at the forefront of exploring innovative funding approaches.

Will and Tom created an experimentation fund resourcing projects that help us learn about our evolving systems. Through this, they seek to understand what funding in emergent systems looks like.

Meanwhile, Ankit builds on community traditions of participatory grantmaking and resource sharing to demonstrate the nuances of bringing power back to communities by involving them in the funding process.?

Don’t miss out on this profoundly human conversation that touches on the real challenges of shifting from traditional to progressive funding models. We highlight the changes needed –?from individual mindset shifts to systemic transformations –?to usher in large-scale metamorphosis for a more impactful and people-oriented world. While our conversation focuses on funding, the core human lessons apply to innovators and changemakers in all sectors.

Best wishes,

Saumya
