“How Can We Pray with Immediacy Since We Are Praying to a Being that We Cannot See or Hear?” by Andrew J. Schatkin
My friends, and Christians and non-Christian alike, many things though not see are felt and we come to believe to be present though they cannot be seen or even perhaps heard at all. Great music as Mozart or Beethoven or the opera of Verdi and Wagner can be neither seen nor touched yet their music, unseen as it is, literally possesses us once heard. This is true of many other tasks and works produced in the world such as poetry with its beauty, not visible to us in its rhyme and rhythms, but nevertheless real and moving our minds and souls and spirits. The same could be said to be true of math and physics, invisible in their symbols but nevertheless real and actual and all have practical application, even the arts. And so what may be the answer here? When we pray, we seek god though not immediately visible to us like poetry, music, and physics, is nevertheless real though not seen. And so not seeing we do in some sense see the invisible god just as we heard the unseen music and interpreted the symbols of math. We approach and even understand many forms of the unseen in our lives and, like god, they affect us, and we come to know them. We come to know god in prayer because he, like the things I have mentioned, is nevertheless is real and affects us in our souls and minds. Though not visible to our eyes, when we pray as with other forms of the unseen, he is there.

3 年Almighty God, help us believe and stand up for what is righteous in this fallen world. But to be sure we are doing what is right, we need to be right in what we are doing. Right with God.
