How can we enable neurodivergents to thrive in society?

A few nights ago, something kept me up. ??????
A girl I know who is autistic/ ADHD and studying science ?? was failed by her university ??.
All she wanted was some adjustments for her learning difference, but she was then referred as "medically unfit" to continue in her course (she does not have any medical/ mental conditions). Escalation to "fitness to practice" was mentioned - what even is that? She is just 8 weeks into her first year in university.
Since when did having a learning difference make someone medically unfit to study, to work... to be human? And needing extra supervision? ????
How damaging is this narrative to someone who's so early in her journey in discovering what she wants to do with her life?
This story, however, isn't unique. I get so many messages from parents of children with ADHD and people with ADHD who are struggling in society's education and work systems.
The problem exist because what they need and ask for isn't something the systems have in place - and in order to make the change... you guessed it - they would have to make the same changes for everyone else.
What if you start from the top?
Creating policies that actually work for everyone.
We are seeing a new boom for?#NeurodiversityintheWorkplace?following this life-changing two years we've had.
To help me create ways to support ADHDers, I need your help.
If you have ADHD and succeeded (or not) in asking for support/ adjustments at work, can you tell me about it?
?? Why I am doing this ??

To provide more accurate representation of what people with ADHD need.
Some of the adjustment strategies out there I feel is created as a box ticking exercise ??, perhaps consulting individuals with ADHD who did not necessarily struggle enough to fail in the system and neglecting those who are unable to fit into a carefully curated job description ??.?#squarepegroundhole?#socialmodelofdisability
What I want to know is:
?? What works for you
?? What does not work
?? How you communicated your needs if you managed to do it successfully
?? What aspects contributed to your success at work
So go on, if you have some spare time (it should take less than 10 minutes), help support our movement.
And if you read all the way to the end, you clearly care. ??
If you have ADHD and experienced various highs and lows with the systems, please fill in short survey to help support those who find it challenging:
