How can we design a better future?

How can we design a better future?

Hey inclusion enthusiast,

I can't believe how close we are to the end of the year already!

But even if you're in a similar state of disbelief, I bet your forward planning for 2025 is already well underway. Goals, targets, budgets... there's a lot that needs to be decided upon. Fear not - as always, this month's newsletter is on hand providing inspiration and food for thought to help along your journey.?

Happy reading,

ONE THING TO THINK ABOUT

Spheres of influence

Thumbnail of Tamara Makoni

Individual action. Systemic action. What's the difference?

My new video explores the similarities and key differences between the two, and emphasises how we all have the ability to make change within our own sphere of influence. Plus there's a bonus: get to know women in the art world who are blazing a trail in this area ??????

Watch it now.?

ONE ARTICLE?TO INSPIRE ACTION

Upskilling future leaders

Equipping future leaders with DEI tools is top of mind for many of my clients. Of course upskilling the current generation is important, but not thinking about the next generation puts your entire legacy, as well as long-term impact, in jeopardy.?

This episode of the How Could We? podcast offers an interesting perspective on this task as well as actionable tips, viewed through the lens of preparing young people to be climate action negotiators. Perfect for November, the month of COP29 ???

ONE EVENT TO DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING

Diversity by design - EU Public Affairs

Picture of an open red notebook with doodles in blue ink on one page. There is also a pen shown balancing on the open book.

How can we use policy as a tool to increase ethnic and racial diversity in EU decision-making?

On December 2nd I'll be speaking about this at a panel event organised by EMPOWER-EU , sharing insights from my work on how to bridge the say-do gap, the positive impact of increasing diverse representation, and more. This discussion is particularly for those in the EU Public Affairs sector, but open to anyone with an interest in learning from each other and finding solutions!

Time: 18:30 - 21:30

Location: Place du Luxembourg 26, Brussels

KAZURI NEWS

What we've been up to

  • Client work has been keeping me busy, with various projects that include designing a 2030 DEI strategy with senior leaders in a multinational company. Alongside this I have been conducting research related to the topic of my Intersectional Women event series, and also wrote an article that will be published soon in a DEI magazine. I'm really looking forward to sharing more news soon, so watch this space... ???

  • I had a blast last week working with Includder to facilitate a workshop on cross-cultural communication for students from several different countries, backgrounds and universities in Brussels. Afterwards one of the participants posted useful summary takeaways, as well as lovely feedback (thank you, Ticha Katangana !). Check it out for yourself here.

That's all for this month - I'll be back soon with more practical insights and tips about inclusion. Until then, feel free to reach out here on LinkedIn or via email to [email protected]. And sign up here if you'd like to get this newsletter directly in your inbox!
