??? How can state government lift up the voices of Black and Brown residents?

Hello,

How can communities and public servants collaborate to disrupt inequitable governmental systems? How can a state government embed anti-racist practices across 200 agencies? What can a state government do to lift up the voices of its Black and Brown residents??

The Centre for Public Impact is partnering with Washington State’s Office of Equity to launch a three-year-long program to dissect these questions and more. Focused on embedding equitable practices across Washington State government, the Washington Equity Program underscores the State’s commitment to developing structures that center the needs of marginalized community members.

The program focuses on creating community engagement and equity strategies that move Washington State to better support the multitude of communities that call Washington home.?Over the next three years, CPI and the Office of Equity will gather public servants from State agencies to:

  • Discuss how to center equity in policies and processes?
  • Learn how to create deep, relational partnerships with residents?
  • Develop an equity and community engagement strategy for their agencies

This exciting program builds toward a collaborative and community-centered government that is responsive to the needs of residents whom the State government has harmed in the past. The next three years of work promise fruitful and deep conversations about disrupting historic and systemic inequities in Washington, so follow along?on our website ?to see our progress toward an equitable and just Washington.?

Best wishes,

Alejandra
