How can Personal Branding Increase Your Company's Revenue & Impact?

One dreary morning, Jen woke up to the news of the murder of her neighbor's daughter. Even though she'd never met the young girl, the incidence shook her to the core.
Maybe because it was too close to home.
Maybe because it happened to a young woman whose whole life was ahead of her.
Maybe it was how that girl's life ended. As she was walking home from school.
Maybe it was because incidences like these had been increasingly getting coverage on the media.
Who knows?
But this lit a fire in Jen. And even though she reserved her social media for business-related content, that morning she penned her thoughts, frustrations, solutions, and posted it on her timeline.
One conversation opened up tiny discussions on matters security, gender bias, the future of our youth, PLUS a natural curiosity around her company and the work she does.
She continued posting statistics around this topics, interspersed with updates about the company, and what she and her team were working on.
A few months down the line, she attended an annual networking event in her industry. One of the ladies introduced her like this, "Meet Jennifer. She started her company just three years ago and she's very vocal and passionate about issues affecting the youth, especially our girls."
That simple introduction stood her out in a sea of sameness.
She had deeper conversations in that one meeting than she had in all the 3 years combined.
She got to shake hands and exchange contacts with people who, in the coming years, opened doors she hadn't even imagined existed.
All through the meeting she received comments like, 'Where have you been hiding all this time? I only started hearing of you recently.'
She hadn't been hiding, she just wasn't standing out from the noise.
Later, when she spoke to her clients, most of them found her and chose to work with her through the awareness she was building around matters affecting the youth.
Fast forward a year later, one of her new employees, Timo, without her knowledge started sharing some of what they did in field assignments.
He shone a light on how this part of the process was crucial in helping them (the company) craft solutions that were tailored to solve real-time problems that their client's were experiencing.

It was always accompanied with a picture of him and their clients, seated around a table, laughing and sharing a cup of tea together.
She only came to know about this normally quiet guy, after one of their biggest clients requested to meet him in person, "He convinced me you care about our real problems"
This is the power of building a Personal Brand in the online space.

With time, 'because you care' became the reason business opportunities and clients chose to work with Jes's brand again and again.
It was all communicated by every day people and in simple ways that everyday people understood.
Ultimately people want to belong, they want to be seen, heard, and understood. And they will do business with people who demonstrate this.
That's what Jes and her team communicated through their content. They then took it a step further and helped more of their employees who wanted to build their online presence, with some guidelines to assist them show up in the best form and maintain the brand message.

Lovely story and the key here is Jen followed her intuition and shared her passion and the work around that. When a personal brand shares from one's core value perspective it always resonates with another. That's how we, as people, are wired. And business is done by people.
