Finding a job seems to be difficult until you find ways to impress your recruiters.
This article purely revolves around certain tips and advice which would help the job seekers to find a job through LinkedIn.
Profile Picture & Headline
The first thing potential recruiters see when they come across your profile is your Profile picture and Headline.
Let’s see what makes a good profile picture & headline:
???? Have a relevant cover photo. Use Canva.
???? Don’t upload selfies or you relaxing by the pool as your profile photo!
???? Write an SEO-optimized headline. (Pick any 3-4 job titles you want to rank for.)
???? Use the ‘OpenToWork’ section to list job titles you’re after.
Creating a profile is just the initial stage of you getting a job.
There is a lot more to do after creating a complete profile.
Make Relevant Connections
LinkedIn allows you to make connections with newcomers, experienced people, and CEOs as well.
You have to find certain ways to get connected to them which would take you one more step closer to getting a job.
Here's how you can make connections!
???? If you are a beginner linking your email is the first thing you should do. This will give you a set of people you can start your connection with as suggestions.
???? Use the “My Network” section to get more suggestions of the people related to your field people around you.
???? Connect with HR Recruiters of companies you want a job in.
???? Connect with people in similar roles in companies you want a job in.
???? Connect with people in senior roles in companies you want a job in.
???? Use personally customized notes while sending in an invitation. Default ones are likely to be ignored.
???? Write about the things common between you & your connection or tell them where & how did you meet (if you did).
???? Keep the connection note short.
???? Join groups to give yourself good exposure in your field.
???? Start connecting with your group-mates. It makes your network stronger.
???? Offer favors or ask for some & try to be in touch.
Post Valuable Content Consistently
Job seekers have to post content regularly to make their presence noticeable.
You have to know the correct procedures for posting impressive content.
If it’s likely uncommon or inappropriate you won’t be able to create engagements in that post.
And, if you are creating content but you aren’t getting proper reach, here are some ways to do that:
???? Have & follow a content calendar.
???? Create statues to create better-performing posts.
???? Don't just sell yourself, create a conversation & take it offline when you can.
???? Make your Ist line or sentence stand out with stats, emojis & interesting "attention grabbers".
???? Answer your audience to grab attention.
???? Don't be afraid to be different. Nothing is wrong in presenting the same idea in a different way.
???? Address your target audience.
???? Use simple vocab and sentences.
???? Use short yet interesting information.
???? Add value to your network through informative posts.
???? Document your story to create a new experience for the audience.
???? Don't know anything? Ask it.
It will also help in creating a good relationship with others.
Jobseekers, only writing good content won't do you any good.
You also need to engage with other people's content to get that decent job.
Engage With Others' Content Too
Engaging with others' content will not build your own followership but it will also open a world of opportunities for you.
Every time you like, comment or share someone's content, they get a notification.
Isn't it a great way to get noticed?
Let's see how you can do this:
???? Talk about the topic, not just the brand
Don't just post your product-related content but also solve the pain-points of your customer.
???? Join question & answer sessions.
Build relationships through constant engagement.
???? Respect other's opinions!
Let others keep their point of view. That's fine!
???? Share other people's content
Repost customers or followers' posts.
???? Engage in guest-posting
Guest-post articles. Write in-depth articles on other people's blogs.
???? Engage with your connections
Respond directly to your connections.
???? Find some commonality with others
Build a meaningful conversation between you & your audience.
There's another great way to connect with some great people & get a job.
And, that's LinkedIn Groups!
Leverage LinkedIn Groups
Using LinkedIn Groups is something not everyone knows. And, let me tell you these groups are a goldmine if you know how to use this amazing feature.
So, let's see how you can leverage LinkedIn Groups:
????Chat with unlimited new connections. No need to buy LI premium.
????Email group moderators directly. LI premium not required.
????Provide value. Grab their attention & get noticed.
????Use the group as a feedback channel & work on yourself.
????Throw a difficult problem and ask for their viewpoints.
????Expand your content reach. Share your content in groups.
????Join relevant groups. Like jobs, recruiters, HRs, Head of Departments, Founders groups.
????Engage with other people's content to get noticed.
Remember to be active & consistent in the groups.
Your efforts for a job search on LinkedIn can go in vain if you don't do this one thing!
How would a recruiter know you're open to new jobs?
Leverage #OpenToWork Feature
LinkedIn's 'Open to Work' feature is what you need to leverage.
Let's see how you can use 'Open To Work' Feature:
????Allows you to display what you're actually seeking
Use OpenToWork to communicate your job preferences like job titles, location, type & start date.
????Allows you to choose your audience
Use OpenToWork to share your availability with recruiters exclusively or share it with your entire network.
????Allows you to reach your target audience i.e. recruiters
Reach recruiters who've purchased recruiter products over LI. Isn't it awesome? Just choose, "Share with recruiters only".
????Allows you to reach the entire network i.e. LI connections
Add OpenToWork photo frame to your profile picture & let all know you want a job. Superb, right? Just choose, "Share with all LinkedIn members".
And, the best part is it shows just below your profile picture and title.
A recruiter can't miss it for sure!
Jobseekers, did you know that you can upload your resume in your LinkedIn profile and it helps you a lot!
Upload Your Resume
Uploading your resume is something not many people are aware of.
Let's see how you can do it & how it is useful:
?? Go to the add profile section and select the media. Choose and add your file which you want to upload.
?? Focus on building your LinkedIn profile content rather than simply using it as a base for your resume, as it shows your past experience which may drive the recruiters away.
?? Think before you upload as it would be public and anybody who visits your profile has access to it.
?? Upload your resume within an Easy Apply Job application with all other additional fields and then submit it.
?? Prepare a good LinkedIn profile as your LinkedIn application is more important than a resume.
?? Keep updating your work status in your LinkedIn profile as it would be better than uploading your resume which generally goes unnoticed.
?? Send your personal details/resume to the recruiters, when you are asked to.
So, make sure that you keep all these points in notice while uploading your resume.
One of the most common questions I get asked by job seekers is "Which one has more impact-recommendations or endorsements?"
The answer is, both.
Get Recommendations & Endorsements
Let's discuss how job seekers can leverage recommendations & endorsements:
Recommendations
?? It's an excuse to connect
While some people make unsolicited recommendations, the majority of recommendations are the result of the receiver requesting them.
?? It’s a PDA (Public Display of Acknowledgement)
Social proof is one of the ways to win over new clients.
?? It’s your recommendation library
This is helpful when you are trying to get the attention of a similar prospect.
Endorsements
?? Helps you get more profile views
According to LI, people who list at least 5 skills receive up to 17x more profile views which means more job offers.
?? Helps you rank higher in search results
The more skills you have on your profile, the higher you’ll rank in the search results which means more opportunities.
?? Shows your proficiency at work
Makes you more attractive to potential employers.
So, guys take both the things seriously and try to get as many recommendations & endorsements as you can.
That’s everything I could cover for the Jobseekers.
I hope this article provides every possible detail which is required by a jobseeker.
Don’t hold yourself to any kind of limitation without acknowledging the path you have been shown.
