Even if you enjoy other social media more, I want you to understand LinkedIn must be a part of your media mix.?

1) Contribute something of value to your target market.

A social media channel is very similar to a TV channel. Ask yourself would you watch a channel that is all about self-promotion and ads, or would you prefer content that is educational and/or entertaining?

There's your answer for you. Make sure your content is valuabale.?

2) Don’t assume that your connections see all your posts.

When you post an update, it appears in the feeds of select contacts for a few hours to test out their reactions to it. If there is little to no engagement with your content, it won’t go much further than that.?

This is something that you not only need to understand but adapt to.?

3) Create engaging content.

It may initially seem superficial, but the more reactions and comments you receive on your post, the more people it will reach.

This is the algorithm of any social media.

However, not all engagement is created equal. Because a comment takes a bit more effort than a reaction, it will go further in increasing the reach of your post. Therefore it's important you're making sure your content speaks with your users.?

4) Avoid links.

LinkedIn penalizes links; it is in the platform’s interest to keep you on its website. If your post includes a link that takes you away from the page, the algorithm will penalize the reach so that less people view your content.

You can get around this issue by posting first without the link and then editing it after it has already been posted to add the link back in.?

5) Post original photos that include people’s faces.

From the time we are babies, we are hardwired to prefer people’s faces. That fact doesn’t change when it is applied to a social media context. Posts with photos that include faces tend to get more engagement, and real photographs fair better than stock photos.

6) Post regularly.

Building a brand requires consistent effort. Not only does posting content on a regular basis help you to stay on the top of people’s minds, but the LinkedIn algorithm rewards people who consistently post high-quality content.

7) Connect on a personal level, but keep it professional.

People relate to other people, not to brands. Be authentic. Open up a bit and share some of your personal life; people will be drawn to you. That said, LinkedIn is a professional network, so keep your audience in mind.

8) Interact with others.

Thanks to tip #3, you now know that when people engage with your posts, it boosts visibility, so when you see a post that you connect with, return the favor. Remember that others in your network can see the content that you interact with, so keep it relevant to your brand.

9) Become a micro-influencer.

You don’t need to have millions of connections for LinkedIn to make a big impact on your career. Sometimes you just need a few of the right people to pay attention. Share your expertise in your field by creating you own unique content and you will stand out from the crowd.
