How can I drive traffic to a brand new blog? Expert Guide Here
The best way to grow your blog, is to leave it.
Figure out who you want to be reading your blog, and interact with them on THEIR blogs and on sites/blogs that cover your industry/space. If you interact with them in their space, that will give them an incentive to come check out you in yours.
For example: When I started blogging in 2005, I was a writer for a brand new group blog. I was completely new to blogging, and I started reading a ton of blogs at the same time, trying to get an idea of how to be a great blogger.
I was blogging almost every day, pouring over every post, and getting zero comments. At the same time, I kept reading other blogs, and eventually found some I liked, and started commenting on them.
Then after about 2 weeks, suddenly the fever broke. Traffic started surging, and comments started pouring in. It was amazing, suddenly every new post I would write would have 5 or so comments within a few hours, where just a few days ago the blog didn't have a single comment. So I was happy to suddenly be getting traffic and comments, but I still had no idea WHY it was happening!
Then I wrote a post, and my friend Jordan Behan left a comment, and he mentioned that he was coming to my blog to leave a comment on my post because I had left a comment on his blog.
Suddenly, the lightbulb went off. I went back and checked, and almost every one of those comments were coming from bloggers that I had already commented on THEIR blog. That's what prompted them to come to my blog and comment on my post. That also accounted for a lot of the sudden traffic spike I was seeing.
So again, if you want to build awareness for a new blog, then leave it. Yes, writing valuable content is important, but connecting with your readers in THEIR space is huge.
