How can I create a public map and share my data?

Welcome back to the blog demo, strangely, the question above was one we got asked quite a lot in the design phase of Mapsimise, i.e., would you be able to create advanced shared maps with relevant data.

The simple answer was yes, and in this blog, we are walking through the steps of uploading data, creating a map, and then creating a public map with a URL

Sure, there are many widgets that will put a map on a website, to show your office location, but let’s face it these tools are a bit of a gimmick, as they are just putting one pin on a map.

But here is the thing, on your website you might need a map to be more flexible, easy to update and have more than just one pin saying we are here; you might have more office location and data to share, or you might even want to share data that relates to what you are working on.?

Ok let me explain and give some examples, let’s say you work with property you might be a surveyor, an estate agent which means you are continually working with different properties, and you have a need to share these properties as they are for sales or rent.?

Your company may be working in health care, and you may want to link hospitals and clinics by location so that patients can see where you operate, you can also use the same data internally to find the best location to book appointments or increase reach with 3rd party providers.

Location intelligence brings a level of flexibility and understanding of what is happening where, visualisation of the things you are working on, which might be sales and marketing related, maybe event management and understand visitor location or maybe you’re working with a charity, and you need to map fundraising events and activity or map the location of where donors are.

Step 1 – Load data

Ok so let’s get started and look at what the first step is, well assuming you have an account with Mapsimise, you will need to load some data or connect to a system like Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce or your SugarCRM.?In this example and step we will assume that you are going to load some data but there is a video HERE about connecting systems ???

You can load your data from a CSV or from and Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, by dragging your sheet into Mapsimise, make sure before you do that you have relevant data that can map a location, this will include the minimum of a post code/ zip code and or some address parts.

Step 2 – Create a Map

The next step is to use the data you have uploaded or connect to and then create a map, Maps can use data from multiple different tables or data sets, and in this example, we show how to create a map from a data table.

Step 3 – Create a public share

Ok thanks for sticking with us, the final step is to save a view of the map you created in the above step and create a configured public share.?Once created you will have access to a URL or a pre-defined code segment which is an “iframe” that can be embedded into your website.
