"How can I avoid passing on stress & overwhelm to my team?"
To be completely frank: you can′t.
Technically you can self-regulate and avoid that you ever come into contact with another person when you feel #stress.
But it is massively unrealistic and it′s also not the type of #leadership culture that I want to perpetuate.
For me, what′s most important to understand is: Our nervous systems communicate together!?
Example: When I enter a room and I am stressed, the other people in the room are going to notice it. Because that was an important way to survive together, right? Like that, when we are all stressed together, we can run away super quickly from a predator or fight him or her together!
However, today, it′s often not a predator we are fighting together or running away from…
So, what helps when you enter the room when you are stressed and it catches onto your #team?
Be honest and talk about it.
What′s even worse for your team is, when they feel the stress but they don′t know what is happening.?Subconsciously they are #triggered, but they don′t understand why this is happening!
When you as a leader have the #courage to stand up and share:
?Currently I feel #overwhelmed. I′ll take care of myself in the evening. I will leave the office a bit earlier today to take an evening to #rest.“
This is what′s going to give your team:
A) the #confidence that it′s okay to feel stress and overwhelm
B) to also #communicate this with you
and C) to take the time and take care of themselves when they need it.
And this is what true leadership is about for me.
